I am a hardcore online gamer.
The pings used to be 60, now have become arnd 160-180..
PLEASE help, tell me how can i fix this ?

There's been problems with BSNL for the last few months. I've been getting the exact same issues as what you stated (packet loss, fluctuating latencies, high pings, disconnects, etc).

In addition during peak times (which are about 4-5 times in a day), latency shoots up to 100-250ms more than normal.

I doubt the problem will improve and things like changing dns server won't affect it.

I think BSNL has the lowest quality internet of any of the major ISPs in india; so the only alternative is to look for others like reliance wireline or airtel.

I was happy with 256kbps and i get 250ms with a Europe server and now the same server at 700+ms ping...
Even i call those DUM *** service eng they will say this is that and that is this..

230ms higher than normal, with packet loss.

Great, so now the high latency/packet loss/slow speeds are during the 2am-3:30am period too.

    Just great.

6:30-8am is unusable on a daily basis because of the same.

So we have a window of 4am to about 6am when we get good internet.
    No wonder nothing downloads.

I wonder what's the point of nighttime unlimited at all if nothing downloads during this time.

At least we have great speeds to look forward to during the day with minimal packet loss .............. o wait, we don't get that either.

i wonder how this is considered "broadband"

Its indeed horrifying dude, haven't you changed your ISP to Reliance?,out of curiosity i've tested same ips and speed-test

    speed on 1.2 mbps plan

    your selected server test

    tested on Metro Ethernet

it's not bad all the time lol
the problem happens only at specific times during the day - particularly during the free 2-8 am period.

It's fine *right* now for me, but there is absolutely zero guarantee that it won't be terrible during the night time.

Even today latencies spiked 4-5 times between 9am and 4pm.

There have been multiple posts about the exact same thing; bsnl hasn't issued any official status update anywhere (as usual), even after about a full month of huge issues. Strangely the indian media isn't even interested.

I have contacted reliance to get their combo 749 or 1099 plans.
BSNL will never improve, it's been like this for the past year or so. In fact with more low cost low speed plans and lack of bandwidth to compensate the problems will only get worse.

BSNL's emphasis is on providing cheap internet to as many people as possible (and possibly subsidizing budget/rural plans).

Quality of service, packet loss, latency, congestion rerouting etc are NOWHERE ON THEIR PRIORITY.

also, changing dns servers is completely pointless, im not sure why people keep recommending this. The changes from switching dns servers, if any, are trivial.

    Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

    what should i do

    I posted my issue here :- homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Cable-and-DSL/WAG120N-Frequent-Internet-Disconnection-Issue/td-p/342665

I am getting frequent disconnects with my UL750.I just purchased an Linksys WAG120N but that did not change anything.I even replaced my modem with another new WAG120N but still the issue continues.I am also getting high Pings.Should i get a Reliance 1499 now ? What could be the problem , The Linksys ADSL Router or the BSNL line ?

    Please reply.Thank You.
