Default Frequent "Server Not Found" Error

While surfing the internet, often I encounter the error "Server not found". Although, it can caused if the remote site, which I'm trying to open doesn't respond, but I've seen that often when I re-start the modem, I am able to open the site without any hassles.

Also, I've noticed that the wifi symbol on the bottom right of the taskbar would automatically show the "red cross" sign of disconnection often, even though the modem would still be on. For this, i would have to wait for a few minutes before the wifi access gets discovered and the connection to be re-established.

Kindly help me understand the nature of the problem. Is this due to some firmware issue? Also, I would like to know about this motive.bsnl.co.in prompt I am getting everytime. Is it advisable to upgrade?

How do I figure out the "type" of my modem? It is Nokia Siemens Network since the upgrade is only for type 1.

    Thank you.

    1. Presume you have "NS"Networks 1600 which is similar to WA3002-g4.
Please check your settingsi link given below.
    2.Also use dns 8.8.8.8 and 208.67 220 220 instead of Bsnl dns.
    3. Copy/Paste here. ipconfig /all
    4. You can ignore the" Motive " website FW upgrades. It is not available for NSN1600.
    5. If you are using WIFI mode reduce the distance from wifi router to Laptop.
    6. Also check channel 11 i selected.

Try reducing MTU to a lower value.

First know the optimum mtu by trial and error by gradully reducing the mtu value by 10

    c:>ping -f -l 1490 www. ya hoo. com
reduce the 1490 by 10 and try until you do not get packet needs to be fragmented message.

    remove the spaces.

Reduce to mtu value you get by tcp/ip optimiser.

Then you will not get server not found message.this worked for me.
