8:1 will be 512 kbps. That will be great, but I am wondering if users are actually getting anywhere near that practically?

Upload speed to a distant computer , will depend on many factors, and the path the connection takes.
Only for Business plans BSNL provides assured/higher upload speed.ot suiotable
You can try a 2 Mbps plan, and if not suitable.
change to higher speed plans .

I am getting up to 50 KBps upload on multiple torrents using UL 750. According to reliable sources, maximum upload speed in a BSNL connection is 768 Kbps.
Will there ever be a real upgrade to Home 500 ?
Or an actual unlimited plan that doesn't have sub 1Mbps speeds ?
8GB limit is a joke for a 4Mbps connection.
Of all the new plans in the last few years, only Home500 seems to make any sense.
My friend has changed to this plan. He's getting 3.3 Mbps downstream(sometimes it goes to 2.3 Mbps) and 0.3 Mbps upstream. He has not yet exceeded 8 GB. I'll change to this plan next month and will post back the speedtest result.
Ya its too low.8GB limit is a joke for a 4Mbps connection.
But it has only 2.5GB limit(or 1.5GB if 500C plan) which is not enough even for casual browsing. For the past 2 months I have exceeded it just by browsing forums(not even you tube)Of all the new plans in the last few years, only Home500 seems to make any sense.
I really don't understand why people fancy ULD 900. After 8GB, you need to cope with just 256 Kbps. But if you choose UL 750 or UL 750 Combo, you can get much better deal.
Nowadays I don't download much. My usage will be less than 4-5 GB. But I require speed. So I guess this plan will suit me(anyway I'm just going to try). More over I certainly won't exceed Rs 900+taxes at all costs(In my 500c plan sometimes I consume upto 3GB and get huge bills of Rs 1.5-2k).
I am thinking of changing my plan to ULD 900 ... from 2-3 months my usage has been well below 7GB ... and i dont get a lot of free time to spend on internet just about an hour dailyso want to have good speed so that i can do lot of surfing ... video watching etc.
