Default BSNL new and revised BB plans eff. Aug 2010

Yes, I just discovered that. re. ULF900
Only last month it was 512kbps and this month it is 4mbps all other remain same e.g. upto8GB, free calls etc.

    sounds good bargain.

BSNL should notify its customers everything there new plans arrive.

I am changing my BBG850 combo from next month (only taken this month).

There are changes in the other plans too.
e.g. BB Home Combo ULF100* had 1mbps upto 9GG the same now upto 15GB.

    Again ULF1350 was 2mbps upto 15GB, now 20GB
    ULF1499## was 1mbps up to 25GB, is now ULF1400 4mbps upto 25GB but 50 free calls iso 150
    ULF2999## was 2mbps upto 50, now ULF1700 upto 40GB free calls 50 iso 300

    Plan ULF1100* seems now withdrawn

Checked BSNL site today 9/8/10 3.30pm

Our GOA BSNL staff is sleeping?

Today I went there/Panjim for the change of plan and they said there is no such plan.
Then I ws told to refer to Commercial Officer, she was even more ignorant.
On top, she says never go by the Internet Tarrif but go by the Tarif that her office staff is holding.

Internet tariff may meant for other states not for Goa, she said.

I was not expecting such a thing from them.
They should be getting info a month in advance not a month later.
They send several customers back saying there is no such plan on their printed chart.

I then went to neaby cybercafe, and got a printout cost me Rs.30
and then showed the BB section clerk. She then phone to someone and eventually they accepted my application for change of plan.
She said 'I found out from you'

The head of the dept was not even polite.

I'm planning to change to this 4 Mbps plan. So can anyone confirm that the speed is consistent around 3.5 to 4 Mbps?

I have 500c plan and i get constant speed of 1.5 to 2 Mbps.

According to reports by some members, you won't get 4 Mbps. Expect something around 2.5 Mbps. Many had to contact customer care to lift the cap. ULD 900 has 8 GB FUP too and no night unlimited.

    Default BB HOME Combo ULF900

Looks like I have some problem with this plan (?)
I am with it since Sept 2010.
Last two months, I exceeded my 8GB limit duing the last week of the month.
But this month (DEC), strangely, my 8GB limit exceeded as from 13th Dec.
Don't know how? As of today 30/12/10, my usage shows about 17GB

The day since I crossed my 8GB limit, I have this nightmare.
Connection went damn slow (after 8GB limit, the speed changes from 4mbps to just 256kbps as per the plan).

It was like I am put on dial-up connection and not BB.
e.g. it took ages to open a photo from flickr etc.
Could not ever watch small video clip from youtube etc.

Even speedtest.net did not worked, sometimes it worked but took about 2-3 minutes for the final result display etc (see below, done just now)
it say upload speed 0.25mbps and dwn 0.70mbps. png 45ms

    http://www.speedtest.net/result/1090119860.png

I have now applied for another plan ULF1000 (from next month)
which has speed 1mbps upto 15GB then after dial-up speed? of 256kbps

Tried to phone the BSNL internet section (line always out of reach/bussy tone etc), he says there is no problem with the line or else lights on the modem (Dlink-GLB-802c) would not have come on.
He also asked if I had torrant? programe running as it slows down the speed.
He then gave me some new DNS numbers manual input but still the speed remained same

I wonder if anybody else has this problem after exceeding the usage limit.
Any other help would be appreciated

My prev. months usage as follows
    Nov. 12.77GB (inludes 2.5GB upload)
    Oct. 8.34GB (1.7)
    Sept. 6.3GB (1.4)

This month DEC (till 29Dec) its about 17 (4.7)

    installed NETworx on 9th Dec
it's report says as of now - Rcvd 7.5GB Sent 3.99GB
Total 11.5 GB (from 9th-29 Dec. only)

There is nothing wrong in the connection other than you chose a plan that will not suit you. It is clearly stated that the speed will dip to 256 Kbps after 8 GB. I switched to UL 750 from ULF 1100 (does not exists now) due to the 256 Kbps dip.You can choose ULD 1350 and get 512 Kbps even after the 20 GB limit.

Most of us use a bandwidth meter to keep an eye on our usage. Try one from Networx or Shaplus. Feel free to ask if you need any other info.

    This may help

    Thanks meetdilp
I was just wanting to know if it was a normal speed @256kbps as I found it as slow as dial-up. Also, the plan was not suitable for heavy downloaders like me. It was fine for the first 3 months though
Right now I am on another plan BB1000 speed 1mbps upto 15GB then after 256kbps

    Speedtest.net result showing thus

I guess I do lot of Youtube video watching and hence usage av. 0.5GB per day

    No problem.

ULF / ULD plans are not for heavy downloaders. Hope you will be ok with the current plan. You may also try ULD 1350 plan. It gives 2 Mbps till 20 GB and 512 afterwards.

Can anyone using the 4 mbps plans tell me the upload speed that you get normally? What does the upstream and downstream values show in the router page?

I do not have the connection yet. I am trying to figure out the upload speed (as they don't mention in their website) that others are getting on the 4 mbps plans so that I can decide whether to go for it or not. The upload speed is important to me for the applications that I use which involes file uploads.

    Usual ratio in ADSL connection
    ratio D/L to U/L 8:1 or 4 :1 usually.
