This may be of some help

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...onnection.html (How to: get max. speed of a connection)

    1. Have you done any changes recently ? Try system restore and check.

    2. Disable your firewall / antivirus and check.

    3. Post your SNR and attenuation values.

the weird thing is that i was downloading cpe(for modem) software from bsnl site & my speed went to 320 then came down to 225-250kbps constantly
after the download finished i started to download from utorrent and max speed i got was 55kbps but my upload speed goes upto 85kbps all the time

    why did that happen?

1350 UL PLUS to BB Home Combo UL 1350 is just a change in nomenclature and

BB Home Combo UL 1350 to BB Home Combo ULF 1350 is the introduction of fair usge policy and higher speed upto monthly quota i.e. upto 20GB of data your speed is 2 mega bits per second (256 Kilo Bytes per second) and after 20 GB quota is over then your speed is throttled to 512 Kilo bits per second(64 Kilo Bytes per second).

    @Legendz
    I want to know somthing
You said you are on BB UL1350, then what is you IP getting from BSNL side, is it 59 or 117.

You said your speed downgrade after the firmware update, then check what is your line speed shows in your modem, go to http://192.168.1.1 and see the Download line speed, should be minium 2048Kbps for 2Mbps download.

If you are in IP 117 then check you cross the 20GB limits or not.

    Hi
Your speed was reduced because you have cross 20GB, means BSNL provides 2mbps speed upto 20GB and when you cross your limit they will reduce your speed to 512kbps which means 64KB/s of download speed, which u r getting now.
And it is upon you weather you cross 20GB in 1d ay or 10 day they will reduce
    You can see here
    http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/new_BB...only_unlim.htm

Now if you ask is there any problem?
The ans is NO Problem. your speed was ok.

There is no Unlimited Plan where you get speed above 64KB/s
The only plan is 500c. but it was only night unlimited 2am to 8am
but the speed you will get is 220KB/s. I get 200KB/s in torrent.

One thing I have been wondering, why there is not a single strongly worded resentment posted here. R all the users so satisfied with BSNL? Or is this forum run or edited by people from BSNL? My suspicion is compounded by the cryptic message I get after writing a post: "your post will not be published until after it has been scrutinised by a moderator" (not the exact wordings of course).

If this reply does not get published after "scrutiny by the moderator", my suspicion will be confirmed.

    Hello All,
I have exactly the same problem as Legendz. But the difference is, i have checked with my usage and it has not even crossed 4 GB and iam getting only 200 - 500 Kbps. Iam at 117 IP. In addition i was getting good speed around 1.71 Mbps from speed test.net and around 200- 180 KBps downloads, few days back. Nothing has changed from my side. I tested my connection with two laptops ( Xp home & Xp pro) desktop( windows 7 and win Xp pro) both with wired as well as wireless. I called callcentre of bsnl and complained about it. They promised a tech call back. The wierdest part is when i checkd in the morning around 7 Am i was getting back 1.71 Mbps from various speed test sites !! but later in the day iam getting only 256 kbps to 500 kbps max in speedtest sites, and its very slow. also, when i download the modem drivers from bsnl site (which i have still not tried to install), i am getting 210 KBps constant. Any body has any idea for me? by the way i have tried two modems ( MT 841 as well as WA3002G4) from bsnl with same result. The modem page shows 2048 download and 511 upload with good SNR and attenuation in line.
