Yesterday after changing my port to a new multiplay port, i changed the wiring to my residence from the DP.But my SNR keeps varying.
    SNR
    29.1
    24.6
    30.6
    28.5 etc
Is this variation normal or the underground cable has to be checked from the exchange to my residence ? I'm not getting a stable SNR.
Today my SNR reading is as
    SNR-30.4 and LA-9.0
    SNR-30.3 and LA-9.0
These rates good i live 500mtrs from the exchange.
A 100mb file is taking 40-45 mins to download.A 18mb file a 5-6mins. The broadband readings show lots of variations in download speed. 31.1/33.8/39.4/29.0 kb/sec.
Its become a headache i cannot download any movies or music with such speed.
I gave the SNR readings to the exchange technician they are passing the buck that they have done all what they could. They even told me not to use my phone plug in the RJpin direct to the modem. The lineman of BSNL are not so conversed with Boadband, They say our work is only to give you a stable adsl link thats it !!I contacted the main xchange the guy (JTO) said we cannot do anything from here everything is done from your exchange(my exchange).Give them the snr readings i did so now lets see what they will do on monday. I m so pissed off with this callous attitude of bsnl employees.
As for my lan card the drivers are latest its integrated(Atheros 10/100) on the motherboard.

    Today 01:46 261 kbps (32.6kB/s) 266 kbps (33.3kB/s)
This is the speed reading today. My problem still reamins unsolved with BSNL technician and 2 stupid linemen who only know how to stabilize the adsl lamp glowing on the modem they proudly said.I gave them the above said snr readings on saturday. My SNR is not constant we changed the port at dslam, changed the wire from the dp to my residence, only the underground line from exchange to my dp is to be checked for rainwater entering in cables and moisture.
Where could my problem lie exactly,is it with the main exchage is my bandwidth regulated ? I was told SNR cannot be increased only it can be cleared in the line. will a wireless cdma solve my problem ? I'm getting download speed for a 40mb file 20mins to download. Previously i used to download multiple downloads of 100 mb say 300mb total within an hour or so now its showing 3-7hours.

Will try out MTS broadband tomorrow and see the speed. MTS is offering 999 Unlimited downloads for 1 month at speeds of 300 to 400kbps much better than BSNL which fluctuates on 30-40-45 kbps.Fair enough for downloading movies and music. Then its Adios BSNL because i'm fed up BSNL bureaucracy. People from Tecnician to Lineman,From Lineman to SDE,from PRO to GM. I placed my complaint even online on selfcare they only give complaint ids for further reference but nothing happens. BSNL best hain sirf Un ke liye not for the customer he is at the mercy of these people.

    @mayflower
everything you written above it's seems the problem from your side.
Change your modem or check with other modem, change your LAN card or check from a Laptop or if possible check with another Desktop computer.

Your modem shows download speed line rates 2048Kbps and even your upload line speed rates are good, and what you mention the SNR value it's also good to get the 2Mbps download speed. I dont see any problem from the BSNL side untile your Plan dont set to 2Mbps, but you said you were getting 2Mbps speed before.

I dont know what process you are using for log in to BSNL ISP, is it PPPOE or Bridge mode, whatever you are using for login to BSNL ISP ater log in to BSNL ISP check the LAN icon on your system tray ( where the times are showing ) that is it continue sendind packets when you are not browsing internet or not downloading. If the packets are sending and receiving continue then this may cause the slow down the speed.

What download manager you are using, check the speed settings of that manager or try to download from a deferent download manager.

A Miracle happened today. I was to disconnect my bsnl connection and go for mts.See this.
    http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/results/47175531.png
I was in for a shock the whole day the speeds were soaring. But they still did not change my plan of 1100UL as i had given 2 months back.It shows me the Home500 plan when checked. I dont want that plan as i am getting good speed now.
Are these guys manipulating the bandwidth.Last whole month my bandwidth says 30-35kb/s now from 1st of this month its a staggering 214kbp/s. Suprising.
