Unhappy Difference in actual download speed and speedtest.net

    hi frnds,

i got my broadband connection last month...
speedtest.net shows speed at 1.7 Mbps and upload at 0.41
but actual speed of download is no where near 160/170 kbps..i get anything between 10 kbps to 25 kbps.
i tried at songs.pk and other similar sites.

can any one plz tell me y its so??

i have windows xp pro sp3...so i had to use tcp optimizer..settings are at optimal...firewall is set ok....snr ,upstream downstream etc values are wat r needed...still no use..

since i am getting proper downlaod speed according to speedtest.net...does it mean any probs wid optimizer settings?
    i m confused
    kindly give inputs
    thanks

For those figures of download speed you must get around 200 Kilo Bytes/Second(KBps).

Try downloading a large file like xp sp3 file from microsoft web site using a good download manager(free download manager).

At the time of download stop all browsing and other download activity and watch the download speed you will surely get around 200 KBps.

The d/l speed depends on the server from which you are downloading. You can notice the same when trying different server in speedtest.net also. I get average d/l speed between 170-190 kB
