Default Need help regarding the modem

    Hi Friends,

I am planning to subscribe for BSNL Broadband connection in Bangalore. But I have few queries regarding the choice of modem.

BSNL provides Type 2 modem for sale at 1600 INR. This modem is WIFI router cum modem. I want to know the quality of the modem.

If I choose to purchase the WIFI modem outside, please suggest me a better supported WIFI modem within 2000 INR.

Also I want to connect a Desktop ( Wired connection ) and a laptop ( wireless connection) simultaneously. Is it possible to have both wired and wireless connections at a time?

Please solve my queries as I am little confused over the issue of modem.

    Thanks a lot

    Pramod

Yes, you can connect both simultaneously if you configure the modem in PppOE (user id/password to be sent in modem). I am using my HP mini and desktop with this configuration

There is no issues with BSNL supplied modems, I am using UTStarcom WA3002G4 WiFi modem for the past 3 yrs. There is no issue so far as for as the modem is concerned. You may get a different make but I don't see much complaints about modem supplied by BSNL, if so, they will replace on request. As per my knowledge the NetGear modem is one of the best suggestion my from side.
