    Default Broadband usage

I'm a new user of BSNL broadbanb.I applied for 500c plan with new connection on 31st july. And my Broadband connection was activated on 12th august.I seen that if i applied for a new connection on or before 31st July i will get free installation and 15 days unlimited broadband use.So i believe i belong to this offer. After activation of my broadband i asked them to confirm that matter by phone. They said i will get this offer. But i'm confused because i'm seeing a 34 GB chargeable use.Though according to my calculation free use will over on 26th of this month.

Are they going to adjust that usage on my bill?As i'm not seeing any adjustment in the portal.

Can you guys give me a rough idea about the coming bill?
(I took type 2 modem on rent basis and deposited Rs500 when i applied for new connection. And land phone was installed on 5th august.)

I read few threads of this forum and find it very useful.I'm getting ~250KBps download speed.I think it's fine with my plan.Am i right?

I also change the settings into bridge mode as i was facing error 676 phone line busy error. After that everything is fine.I also set my DNS to symentec DNS.So i want to thank those guys for posting such important information.

I installed networx software to monitor my usages. But i'm confuged how to exclude the night unlimited usage.I set the color blue in the advance settings for unmetered usage.
(Sorry i'm not able to post the pics )

Do i need to do anything else to exclude night usages?

Another thing is that this software is showing some confusing usages. It is showing usages in MB.But i think it would be Mb.

It's showing 291 MB usage in 1 hr 16 mins.

During that period i only surf through this forum and didn't download anything.so this result is shocking.Any idea?

Any other suggestion and tips are welcome as i'm new in BSNL broadband.

    Thank you.

I think you do not benefit from the offer. Irrespective of it is available to your or not, you are charged for your usage and you will be billed for 32.5 GB @ 60 paise per extra MB. For those who have this offer, chargeable units excluding night unlimited will be zero. Make a call to the accounts officer and present your problem. Try to solve before the bill is generated.

If you are having problem with Networx, try Shaplus bandwidth meter. It has option to exclude night unlimited.

Your night unlimited usage should fall in 2 - 8 slot. Disconnect and connect the dialer a little after 2.00 am and a little before 8.00 am. There are tools to automate the process while you sleep. Use this tool

In Shaplus settings, check the adapter. Choose the one which is relevant.

Check whether you can find the ethernet adapter. Download something big and check one adapter at a time.Choose the one which counts the download.

    This are the list.......
    1. Broadband connection
    2.Bluetooth device ( Personal area network )
    3.Intel (R) Pro/100 VE network connection
    4.Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG network connection.
    5.Microsoft ISATAP Adaptar.
6.Teredo tunneling pseudo interface (but in shawplus it was listed two times)
    7.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #3
    8.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #2
    9.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar
    10.Microsoft ISATAP adapter #2
    11.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #7
    12.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #4
    13.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #5
    14.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #6
    15.Microsoft ISATAP adapter #3
    16.Microsoft 6to 4 adaptar #8
    17.Microsoft ISATAP adapter #4

I checked those all in shawplus but this time it was showing some double of my expected usage. Then it started to give error: 6 runtime error.

Then i installed tautology bandwidth meter. It's nice and working fine now.

After installing that i realize that the double usage was for broadband and Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG network connection(I'm using BB through WiFi).I think they both calculate the same thing. As in tautology meter this two are listed and showing almost same result.

My question is what is my actual usage? Both or one of them?Which one should i track?

And thanks for BB scheduler. It's working fine. But it don't have the facility to turn on the computer at scheduled time. But still it is very useful.

    Thank you.

    1.
Items 5 to 17 may not appear in ipconfig /all if you uncheck BOx
    IPV6 in Network settings page.
    2.
Data usage is restricted to traffic passing thru lan/wlan adapters
for each Machine. Blue tooth traffic also not recorded.
    3.
Assume you connect 4 laptops in to WIFI mode.
Each system must have a net meter to show data usage in that particular laptop.
Your usage is SUM of all readings in different systems.
    4.
when we use VOIP service telephone calls NO meter will register the usage.
    5. ALWAYS check in BSNL Portal your usage
( if not on unlimited tariff plan )
( Obtain 14 difgitID and PW as password from exchange )
    6.
ALL traffic data available in BYTES in the modem ADSL page.
    WAN LAN etc.

Well i just checked the usages for 26.08.2010 excluding NU.
    Tautology meter reading:

    Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG network connection: 11.89 MB
    Broadband connection : 11.33 MB

BSNL reading from portal: 12.01 MB

Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG network connection has the closest reading. So i will follow this reading.I think i have to follow the reading for Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection too when i connect through LAN.

    @preferity
you need two data meters. One for LAN and another for wifi.
    Try Networx from softperfect.com.
