Default Link Lights go off and on every few minutes

Hi, I have a wierd problem.
I am using bsnl broadband 750 plus plan. My Modem is a SmartX MT 882. I use a Belkin 54G router. I use a splitter. For 5 yrs I have not had any issues. Last month this issue started:
When my PC is off the modem works fine and the links lights dont go off and on and I am able to use the router to connect to the laptop and internet connection is normal.
When the PC is on the link lights in the modem don't come on(the power and LAN lights come on) at all and I cant connect to internet on my PC anymore.
Also since last week the link lights dont come on at all whether the PC is on or off.
    What I have tried:
I had a few issues with PC so I had to reinstall OS.
I then tried a direct connection without using the splitter and by using the line that goes to the phone directly.
In this case the modem worked fine and the lights didnt go off and on.
So in a nutshell I am able to use the direct line but if I use the bedroom line which has a splitter the lights dont come on.
The most confusing part is this happens for a few days and the problem fixes itself. I called BSNL and they keep saying that from their end everything is fine. My question is whether is it a Line problem, a splitter problem, modem problem....Shall i cancel BSNL? Their support sucks!

    1. Check your splitter. Make sure all connections come after it.

    2. Try a friend's modem at your place and check.

    3. Connect the line directly to the modem and check.

    4. Sure! call BSNL and seek assistance.

For 5 yrs I have not had any issues.....

Problem may be with ADSL splitter. ( VERY RARE FAULT )
REPLACE SAME. ( The filter in the unit must have shorted )
Do you hear any "Hiss" sound when handset is lifted ?
    Feedback.

Issue also may be because of weak power supply. When no load It is able to lit up signal led but, when under load it may not be able to give sustainable power. Borrow another modem to rule out the possibility of modem/power adapter before making a complaint.

"Hiss" indicates BB signal entering the Telephone instrument.
Please follow Post No 2 and try a NEW adsl splitter.
or additional adsl splitter/s from each Phone extension in different room/s.
5 years in use contacts could have blackened/oxidized/rusted.
Use new cable with bright contacts.

Ok problem is back! Started 2 days ago. Same issue. I replaced splitter as well this time. Same issue. Also modem restarts if I pick up the landline phone. There are two things I havent tested. The phone line that comes out from the splitter to the modem and the modem itself. I tested the phone line with the landline phone though and the phone works fine... I am clueless

    your line condition/s are bad.
Snr should increase ( above say 15 db) and ATTN reduced considerably( say less than 30 db)
Take print out if possible and show BSNL JTO / CC
or inform details to check your line.

Check contacts at Junction box for blackening/rusting/ high resistance contacts. Clean/polish all contacts .
better use short new RJ11 and rj45 cables.
Recheck snr attn. Still no improvement complain to BSNL.

The problem was with the RJ11 cable. I went to the hall n connected the modem there to test the SNR. These are the new results with a different RJ11 cable.
    SNR: 21.5 dB
    Attenuation : 10 dB.
The RJ11 cable which goes to my bedroom must be banged up. I dunno if BSNL will replace it or do I have to buy. Anyway I called those morons and they said they will get back to me. I am sure they won't. I'll buy it myself.

Like Electricity, BSNL provides a Telephone junction box in one room.
All extensions/ to other floor/s rooms customers responsibility.
For "CHA Pani" line man may do it with materials supplied by you .

Unless you need concealed wiring additional two way splitter can be used ( from ADSL splitter Phone port ) ,and draw additional rj11cable to bedroom.

Hmmmm.... There problem is with the line from the splitter to bedroom. BSNL guys usually take their own time to fix it. I'll just buy a 5 m RJ11 cable and fix it myself.

    congrats.
    1.
Save/backup current modem settings from Management menu
    to say C:/My Documents/Mt882 OK
    2.
    check any further improvement.
if you change mod mode to GDMT instead of ADSL2+
