Default BSNL not issuing a Landline for me

hi all, me from Kerala, applied for a Land Phone instead of my WLL which I am currently using in order to take a new Broadband connection. Today they told there is no empty slot in ur locality and it is only possible when somebody disconnect their connection. I think they are very lazy to take a connection from somewhat away from my home, eventhough my home is near to National Highway. Now what should i do. Is there any rights to get a Landline for me?. Because Bsnl is the only available option for me. Otherwise i have to look for WLL Unlimited 250/- connection. I think which is damn slow. Hope some opinion from experts..thanks..

You can also try BSNL EvDO. No need for a landline. It has an USB modem. Just insert it and use.

If you are particular about land line, complain to Nodal officer or Appellate authority. ID and phone no on the back side of BSNL bill. You can check your friends' bill if you do not have one.

Thanks bro,Eventhough i am very closer to bsnl tower Evdo is not available yet in my exchange. And is there any rights to get one connection once Landline connections are already here in my area. After 3 weeks query yesturday they simply told it is not possible, because there is no free slot in my area. Anyway i am going to complain Nodal officer as u said. And one more question Brother, how about speed of WLL 'high speed Internet'(at least they are telling).WLL TARANG phone is i am currently using and very near to tower too..

WLL phone has an advertised speed of 115 Kbps. Expect an average of 10 KBps.

Seems ridiculous that BSNL does not have an open slot in these days. I thought that BSNL (landline) subscribers were decreasing daily.

Default May be u at area where errecting cable is not feasible

BSNL Can't provide services 1 subscribers as u can imagine how much it cost to bsnl... as they are providing Landline/Broadband on most reliable media... CONNECTION ORIENTED... so depends on feasibility they provide connection and Broadband subscribers depends on no of free DISLAMP Ports

Thanks for all of urs comments.. Broadband availability is not a problem in my area(near calicut), many of my frnds having it. But i cant change my current WLL Tarang with a Bsnl Landphone. I am hardly 500 meters away from Telephone Exchange. I just want to know if there is no free slot in my area then is there any alternative solution or not to take Broadband connection(Landline)

Man, what's happening in our country? We are still struggling to get a basic landline connection!!!

Here's the link for giving all kinds of grievances online

There is an option of non-provision of landline. Hope it helps..

Go and meet the Sub Divisional Officer, ask whether, a Broadband connection could be given with a copper pair, even while the WLL is pending conversion to land line

Please specify your place and the telephone exchange or Local telecom officials number, so that we can locate the place, instead of "near Calicut"

    Unhappy No Landline

I am facing this problem too. I moved from one location of bangalore to another location in Bangalore which was hardly 2 kms away from the previous location. Was told that there was no slot (the lineman said something sounding like "dip") and was told to request other neighbouring apartment associations to lend a slot (dip), which was promptly refused by the associations. I am told that I would have to wait for "God-knows-what" time for the cable department of BSNL to dig up the roads and lay the cables and slots in my area again .

Moving to Airtel, despite its FUP, for now.

....IT savvy people in a country with no real broadband...

Get something in writing to make a complaint to ALL India Website.
If you had given application for SHIFT of existing telephone and you got a reply "Not feasible" etc.
    Confirm.

Only the lineman was brusque and answered that the connection was impossible ; but I pursued him and his superior officer.

I was told by the officer that the cable has to be laid, and that he has passed on that request to the cable department. When asked if that would be done in 15 days, he replied that it was a possibility only if I was extremely lucky...

Of course, I am certain that BSNL cannot say "no" officially. But for all practical purposes, I cannot wait longer nor do a timestudy of their cable department

I have been a fan of BSNL as they do not have any FUP policy; hence I have still not closed my account with them; hopefully i will not be charged a bomb for that. Am planning on giving up the Airtel and its FUP connection once BSNL lines invade my road.

BSNL does have FUP policy, infact on some plans speeds drop below minimum speed of 512kbps.
