This is a guide to connect Nokia N95 / N95 8GB to your existing wifi network, but should work on the E series phones as well...

    1. Configure your ADSL modem to "Always on" mode... (look elsewhere in this forum to do this)
    2. Enable "wireless" in your modem and note down the SSID and security settings of your modem...

    N 95 / N 95 8GB

    1. Click on Menu, Tools, Settings, Connection, Access points in that order...
    2. Select Options under Access points...
    3. Select New access point...
    4. Give a name for your connection (any name to distinguish your connection)...
    5. Select "wireless LAN" under data bearer...
    6. Enter the SSID of your ADSL modem under "wireless network name"...
    7. Select "public" in network status...
    8. Select "infrastructure" in WLAN network mode...
    9. Select the type of security in WLAN security mode (obtained from the security settings of your ADSL modem)...i.e., open, WEP, 802.1x or WPA/WPA2..
    10. Enter the security settings in "WLAN security settings"...
    11. Homepage... (leave it as none)...

To prevent your battery from draining out fast..

    1. Click on Menu, Tools, Settings, Connection in that order...
    2. Click on Wireless LAN...
    3. Click on "Show WLAN availability"... (it will change to "YES" from "Never")...
    4. Leave "Scan for networks" as it is...
    5. Go to Advanced settings under "Options"...
    6. Select "Yes" to acknowledge the warning that pops-up...
    7. Do not change any field, except "Tx power level" which can be set to 4mW instead of 100mW...
    8. Now come back to "Show WLAN availability" and select "Never"...

You are now ready to browse from your phone...
just select the access point... (some av programs like NetQin do not update over wifi)....

    feedback please...

Oh dear.... any wifi enabled smartphone, whatever be the OS works fine with a wireless modem. My Nokia N95 8GB (Symbian 3rd) and HTC Touch Pro (WinMo 6.5) work perfectly with my UTSTAR WA3002G4, ITI DNA-A211-1 and another UTSTAR type I modem linked to a D-Link wifi router...

    @param

just follow the guide given above and you should be "enjoying your N95 8GB with WA3002G4"...

make sure that your modem is in "PPPoE mode"... you may also try initially without any security for your wireless and then experiment with the other security protocols....

btw, is your phone bought in India or a branded one and then unlocked (viz Rogers or AT&T) ???

now that you have successfully connected to your wifi system from your mobile, prevent your battery from draining out faster by selecting your Tx output to 4mW...
