    Angry Disconnections at night!

    Hi,

    Location : Bangalore
    Plan: 500C

I've been using UT300R2U since I got my internet connection 3 years back.. I have had problems of disconnection but when I reboot it, everything was fine.. But now-a-days, during 'some' nights, I get disconnected every 2-4 minutes.. Rebooting the modem, computer restart, modem cooling, clearing Kaspersky history doesn't work..

I've posted image of my connection line and SNR values.. The pic which shows low SNR value and the -ve SNR value are the ones I took just before the disconnection. Usually the SNR value is good as I keep checking them all the time.

I don't know from where the 'study room' has got the line from, but when I use internet, I DO NOT get any disturbance on phone. But when I remove the splitter and use phone, I get disturbance. If there is any problem with the way I've connected the phone or internet using splitter, I should have got the disconnection every time I use phone or during the day times too. But i don't get disturbances..

The output from the adapter is 10V and I've connected it to UPS.

From the Telephone pole to the house, there is only 1 joint which is not covered with tape..

What could be the problem? Does the dew on the joint near the pole during night give any problem?
Should I go to them and get my modem checked once?
I checked SNR values by connecting internet through splitter but the values remain same.. 23-27 down and 20-22 Up..
I just checked snr with and without splitter.. It showed 33/27 and 33/26..

From pole to house, only one. I called BSNL guys and told them about the joint but they said, " Now you are talking to me on phone but where is the disturbance? There is no disturbance and the connection is fine, Don't worry!."

    1.Change Mod mode to GDMT.

    2. Try google dns 8.8.8.8 and Opendns 208.67.220.220

    In modem menu DSL page
uncheck adsl2+ box . Enable GDMT. ( may be enabled )
    Enable Bitswap.
Save Reboot. wait for a minute or two.
    Recheck snr/attn.

    I unchecked adsl2+box..

GDMT and Bitswap were already enabled.

SNR values increased from 29.7/25.6 to 33.1/27.8..( sorry, I checked again, 29.2/20.3).. Why does it keeps rising and falling?
Thanks But is it solved now?

Hope with modem synchronised to a lower speed,
you will get a stable connection. SNR is good.
give feedbck after test for a day or two.

Thanks a lot! I will definitely give feedback tomorrow. But when you say lower speed, does it affect my torrent downloads? Is it a noticeable difference? =]

    Attainable synchronised rate will reduce.
Normal Rate ( as per ISP speed) will not change.
Test speed at My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Tester
    for records/as reference .
Torrent d/l speed need not /may not be constant. always. .

Nothing helped!! The disconnections has started again!!

I checked SNR values, It reduces to 13 and the connection goes off.. But why only during nights? Mostly after 10:30 pm.. Again I'm asking this, Does the dew drops at the joint affect?

After trying so many things yesterday night for half hour, it was back to normal. I don't know what made it but I tried disconnecting wires, system restart etc.

Also, I stopped using ICQ chat. I didn't get the problem after that all night.
So, I don't know which was the solution.
