Default Torrent Race!! Help me to win it!

    Hi,

    Location: Bangalore
    Modem: UT300R2U

My friend( 10 km away from my place) and me are going to keep a torrent download race between us, either today or tomorrow. We are going to schedule it from 2-8 and at morning 8am, we'll just take snapshots of it.

Usually, he can download a minimum of 3.7 GB and upload 0.5GB and can reach at top speed of 205 kB/s. and a total of 220-225 kB/s Down+Up. with the following settings.
    Max upload: 42
    Global max connections : 230
Max connected peers per torrent: 115
No. of upload slots per torrent: 4.
    Port used: X > 50,000.

I, on the other hand can download a maximum of 2.8 GB and upload .5GB with the top speed of 180 kB/s but the average is around 150-160 kB/s with the following settings.
    Max upload: 20
    Global max connection: 330
Max connected peers per torrent: 110
No. of upload slots per torrent: 4
    Port used: Y> 50,000.

Other than these, all our settings are same. Also, Same anti-virus, same OS and same torrent version.

I have even tried his settings but whatever I do, my speed doesn't reach more than 185 kB/s. and won't exceed 195 kB/s Down+Up.

Before a year, I used to download a famous TV show every week and I used to get the top speeds of 205 and I could use utilize full 230 kB/s. But now, I've no idea what's wrong.. The speed drops drastically.

Even now, when I use any Download manager, I get speeds more than torrent.

We had raced a few days back with the some random torrent but I had lost it..
So, please help me to win this time.

    Try TCPoptimiser from speedguide.net.
Check speed here for reference: before/after above mod/s
If no change/improvement revert to original settings.

I checked it before and after. I think it has changed.. I'll check it with torrent tonight and see if there is any improvement.. I used the auto settings on that software.

    Thanks a lot!

Hi, TCP optimizer helped a lot. I could download 3.5GB with topspeeds of 190 kB/s. But they were just flashes. The average was around 175-185 kB/s which is a lot better than my previous 155 kB/s.
However, the total speed didn't exceed 209 kB/s.

    Thank you essbebe.
