Thread: Need help-Seimens sl2_141 bsnl broadband problem...

hi,
i m using bsnl broadband connection (plan home combo-500) form last 2 years.
They gave me seimens sl2_141 with wifi modem.
From last one month , intrenet link of my modem randomly dropped down, and it wont come even for 3 hr or more.
First when i turn on modem downstream is 2048 and snr is 31, after 5 minutes link dropped and new downstream is around 1200 and snr is 5.5 , and sometimes internet get connected and sometimes not.

i have complained many times in bsnl office , the lineman has changed my line fully and its ok from his side, but the problem exist. Now,i dont no what to do.
Is my modem faulty or it is from bsnl sides.

please help..............
need solutions.

Post as annexure Statistics adsl page
or report attenuation data( ALSO snr data).
If using dialer mode
try PPP/PPPoE ( userID/PW entered
in modem wan page)
Change dns to 8.8.8.8. and 208.67.220.220

yup........i m using pppoe connection......userid/password entered in modem itself........as always on connection

but i haven't change the dns.

Your SNR D/L is poor. 6 db
check your connection:
Bsnl Junction ===Rj11 to LINE of adsl splitter
Adsl splitter=== Phone port=== all phones
Adsl splitter===Modem port === Modem.
Use short cables. Check connectors for rusting/oxidization/.

and internet work like never before but this remains only for 4-5 minutes...
and same issue persist as discussed above.

As you suggest i have checked all my connection.
all are fine and in good condition.

Is problem is in adsl splitter or in modem or from bsnl side ?

copy/paste data here.
Enter dns 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220 in modem.

2.Try to replace the power adapter from BSNL.

i will change dns to above as u recommend........
but what role does "POWER ADAPTER" play in this.

okk i have checked the power adapter of modem by multimeter in my college lab....
it is giving correct voltage 11.96~11.98 V--------12V written on adapter.

Means "Power adapter" is not the culprit.

I have also changed dns to 8.8.8.8 as u recommend
but nothing is changed..........same issue persist.

.In Network settings check the LAN ethernet card or
WLan card settings. Any power saver option selected ?

hey ......... My friend also have same broadband connection.
so i have taken his modem+adapter+adsl_splitter for one day.

His modem works absolutely fine on my connection and internet work out great with full speed without any breakage of link.

Now i connect my modem with his adsl_splitter-- same issue persist.

His modem's adapter was of 5.5v and my modem was of 12v so i haven't powered my modem by his adapter

so, now it is clear that the fault is either in my modem or in adapter or in both.

What is the modem/model/make/number of your friend's unit ? Post Device info of his modem with power adapter 5.5.VDC= output,
is usually for Beetel 220BXI adsl modem . No wifi.

You could have compared settings in all menu pages to locate any
difference in PPP/PPPoE connection. WIFI if available.

my friend has "Nokia Siemens-c2110" without wifi with power adapter of 5.2VDC 1A .

I have created broadband dialup connection --which we used to connect when we go online.(not always on) from windows itself because his modem was not opening by 192.168.1.1

i was afraid to reset his modem by pin hole.

i have checked his modem's setting in his home as 192.168.1.1 was working at his home. (i dont know why?)

It was just default settings without any username password entered in WAN area.

Option 1;
Connect your modem NS networks 1600 in your friend's location.
( to ensure no problem with BSNL line there.)
Option 2 :
Try in your location LAN port of system ( ethernet port of system)
Feedback needed only for lan and wlan Tunnel data not needed.

I had borrowed Power Adapter from my friend having same plan and modem and equal rating power adapter.

But the same issue persist ...................

Modem gives full speed for first 5-6 minutes and then link breaks.............
and when reconnected if u r lucky enough , then u will be getting half of actual speed..

do firmware plays some role in it ??????????????

Now bsnl has changed my port from the exchange.............
now i m not on always on connection , i m on broadband dial up connection.

confirm problem solved.

but the problem is not solved yet........

check cable contacts.
Ensure ALL Phones connected to ADSL splitter Phone port.
Re check in PPP/PPPoE "Always On mode.
Change dns to 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220.

This is clearly indicate your Telephone line has the problem. There is some noise in your telephone line. Pickup the Telephone Reciver and try to notice the noise or disturbation sound.

The Nokia Siemens has inbuilt noise reduction curcit thats why you dont face the problem on it.

Ask BSNL to change your Telephone Line or say You hear noice on your telephone and your Broadbad disconnect frequently. They will understand what to do to solve your problem.
