Thread: ADSL modem

At present I am having BB connection (BSNL) with Utstar 3002G wireless modem. Now I want to use two computers with this one BB connection. The wireless signals are not reaching to another computer as it is placed far away and separated by thick wall. So there is no option but to go in for another modem. I want to know the following:

1. Whether I can buy another modem form the market and attach it to a second computer( I am having telephone line in another room where I can connect the modem)? If so how to configure the new modem to suit BSNL BB?

2. Whether to get another modem from BSNL itself with more than one Ethernet port and connect to the other computer by wire?

I will not be using both the computers at the same time.

Presume the model is UTSTAR WA3002-G4 adslmodem+4lanport + wifi router.

This computer( laptop ?) has both LAN mode and wifi options ?

You can use RJ45 cable to connect to this computer. confirm
modem model as given in (1) above.

I will not be using both the computers at the same time.

With a single adslmodem+4 lanport only the modem has to be
kept on.
Lan1 to computer 1 ...Lan2 to Computer 2 etc.
In wifi mode any number of systems with WIFI facility can be connected within Range ( usually laptops )
