Default BSNL Modem , New one or Old

I am looking forward for new connection. I have 2nd hand modem avialable for 500 Rs.

If i go for new modem total will be 1000+ 250= 1250 [Brand New Mode]
If i go for Old modem total cost will be 500+500=1000 [Used Modem]

    250 & 500 are Installation charges

SO which option i should go for...

U did not mention which brand & model of modem u shall be using.
If you are not purchasing modem from BSNL then try to configure the modem by yourself and save installation charges.
There are lot of members who shall guide u.
Lot of guidance is already been posted on this forum, u only need to search for the same.

Nothing wrong in using a second hand modem if you are confident that it is good. You can also try rental scheme as they will replace the modem if there come any faults.

Don’t sign on the page which BSNL guys bring at your place.
If they give u ring, categorically deny them to visit u.

BSNL has tieup with ZTE & Huawei, which are chinese brands.
make sure that modem is not chinese.

present price of adsl modem (type 1) Rs 1100/= + taxes.
    Rental Rs 50/=P.M
    New Page 3

For new connections Installation charges waived. replied elsewhere.

Brand name modems such as Netgear/Dlink/linksy's etc are also
    "MADE IN CHINA".
Bsnl modems are based on U.S hardware board, and Siemen's.
Mention modem/make/model/number , which your friend is offering.

    Just wanted to add-
"plz dont equalize "made in china" and chinese brands.
If dell makes system in china,we dont call it a chinese computer.

chinese brands are notorious for their poor quality all over the world.
BSNL guy when came to solve my problem said this-
"if china modem gives u service for 2 years,it is more than expected".
