    Default Downloading data even when idle

    i have recently encountered a problem with my BSNL broadband. it is downloading data even when my computer is idle. i tried everything like checking any active updater or etc , but nothing works in my favour. it is eating on my bandwith. it jumps to 10 MB in no time. i am using plan 500C. can anyone help me.

    Use a good firewall. Zone alarm will do. Check which program is accessing net and block it.

    Its normal for activity when you are not surfing windows keeps activity from your pc to the net on. Disable you updates firstly and get a good antivirus and firewall.
    I suggest zonealarm extreme security it solves both the purpose or if possible go for Norton antivirus again it solves both the purpose.
    I suspect virus activity or malware. Format your PC and install a fresh copy of windows with the follwing software.

    He's right......there is chance that your PC is infected nd some malicious code
    is downloading sumthin.
    try to disable restore points in xp, then scan ur PC with a good antivirus.
    most of the viruses go in restore points to avoid detection frm AV tools.
