Above, I posted one thread regarding long ping times of my connection. Forgot to post the line stats. Since It seems I cannot edit (don't know why), I'm posting them here in a separate post. Sorry for that.

    Here they are:

    DSL Status Connected
    Downstream Data Rate 2045 kbps
    Upstream Data Rate 509 kbps
Max Att Downstream Rate 8280 kbps
Max Att Upstream Rate 970 kbps
    SNR (Downstream) 19.90 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 21.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 15.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 3.5 dB
    Connected Standard ADSL2+

I have done the above ping test on a PC, connected by LAN (not wireless).

Also can u pl let me know whether DNS could cause this problem. I use Treewalk for Local DNS host.

your snr and atten are both fine.

latencies aren't really changed much if you change dns servers. I Really don't get why people on this forum keep recommending changing this.

It could be a line issue - pick up your phone and see if there is any crackling sound/noise.

If local (indian) websites open fine and you don't have any heavy packet loss it's almost certainly an issue on BSNL's end.

Since you mentioned foreign servers; it's probably bsnl's worthless routing at work.

btw you don't have to create a new post to edit: just reply to your own post.

    Thank u for replying.

As I have already mentioned in my main post; there is no audible noise (crackling etc) in the phone.
