    Default BSNL formalities for internet connection

    Hi I recently moved to a rental accommodation in Bangalore, and want to take an internet connection. Tried Airtel - no feasibility.

    The two other choices in my area are Reliance and BSNL. The BSNL plan is cheaper and faster but I am wary of dealing with BSNL after hearing horror stories about its customer service and time taken to install a new connection.

    which one do you recommend? How much time does it take to get a new internet connection from BSNL? Are the formalities very difficult to complete?

    Please let me know. Thanks,

    I heard good reviews about BSNL Bangalore. In fact all BSNL activities are controlled from Bangalore. You may also check cable internet providers like Railwire. Check the Reliance section, you will find enough threads to make a second thought on Reliance too. But it is always your choice. Check with your neighbours about their connection and service.

    I just talked to Reliance guys. I will go for Reliance if they give me Metro Ethernet, or if its only a ADSL. I will look at BSNL. I asked my owner and he has no clue about Internet connections...

    for BSNL you'll have to get land line first, if you have, there's no complications in formalities, but for me in baroda, they took 25 days for landline, and 4 days for broadband.

    @ganeshran
    When you get Reliance adsl connection,
    confirm whether you can use a laptop in WIFI mode.,
    with the modem supplied by them ,( could be ZTE 831AII) and
    by adding any wifi router.
    or they provide a router with this wifi facility.
    This is one undecided/tricky problem. for many.
    Also whether you can keep your connection "Always On" mode.
    No dialer mode.
    If you get Railwire it will be a better choice.

    Lets see what they give me. Will post once I get it.
