Default AN 1020-21 Cannot connect to Internet (Windows 7)

I cannot connect to the Internet (Internet light is off).

I am able to connect using bbtest account. I can ping some websites and domain names are resolved too. But I cannot do that using my account.

Can you guys help me find if I'm missing something?

My service name is dataone, not BSNL. Does that make a difference?

I also don't see my modem in the first link.

    Thanks for your reply.

When I use bbtest (user id) account, the internet light comes on. I can ping other servers. But it does not work with my own account.

Are you trying to connect in Dialer mode or "Always On Mode ?
    8.
Dialer mode : enter userId ( with or without @bsnl.in) and PW in a window in computer.)
    9.
"Always On" : Select PPP/PPPoE in WAn Page of modem and enter userID and PW.

What is the difference between bbtest (userID) and your own account?

Do you have different userID and PW in OWN account ?

"Always on" mode. Yes, I enter username and password when setting up PPPoE connection in the modem configuration.

I have been specifying "dataone" (which was the default) as the service name not "BSNL". Is that wrong?

bbtest is just a test account used by BSNL to test broadband connectivity. Apparently, there is no problem my connectivity.

Yes, I have my own username and password.

I cannot post configuraion (ipconfig) at the moment, but I will do tomorrow.

My modem is not Siemens and it is a type 2 (with wifi). It has this logo called VMC on it. I think the connections to the modem are okay.

I'm trying LAN mode, not wifi.

The only difference between that configuration and mine is service name (dataone vs BSNL). I will try to change it to BSNL tomorrow and see if that will help.

I think service name will not make much difference and to diagnose the problem exactly temporarily you can switch to bridge mode and try dialing from the computer and it will return the error message with the error number which will help a lot in trouble shooting the issue.

I also got error691 (internal error in modem/connecting device) last week.
So i rang up the bsnl guy who had set up my connection initially (I had noted down his no. ) He kept blaming me that i must have messed around with the settings !!! I said no i hadnt changed the settings. He then said he was busy and would come home and check my modem after 2-3 hrs.
Exactly 1hr later i got a call from my local exchange to check if my net was working. And yes it was working . So obviously the fault was not in the modem or in modem settings. The fault was in the exchange.

Yes, you are right. My problem is fixed now. It has nothing to do with my settings. The technician claimed some port binding issue on BSNL side.

    Thanks to everyone that helped.
