Arrow Modem Purchase or Rent for existing customer

My 2 years old modem which I've purchased(outright) has gone kaput and I want to purchase a new (non-WiFi)modem.

So which is best option(Buy or Rent) ? I know about the costs like rental cost(Rs.50) and purchase cost(Rs.1000).

Can I get any exchange benefits for my non-working old modem ?

Do I need to cough up any Deposit charges or like since I'm a 2 year old Dataone customer ?

Better get it on rent. It gives better opportunity for replacement. It depends on your negotiation skill. At my exchange, they do not mind exchanging the modem even if the whole rent is paid. Try talking to them.

I was using a Nokia Siemens C 2110. Was working fine for me. Just got myself a new AR 800V v 3.0 for wifi. I suggest you get a wifi modem for future use. With wifi mobiles dominating the market, you may find a need for a wifi modem soon.

Thanks for the reply. I will go for the rental option.

But is there any deposits that I need to pay if I take the modem in rent(I'm a 2 year old Dataone customer. ) ?

    I don't need a WiFi modem because I'm already having a D-Link Wifi router.

Oh nice. A wifi router will serve your purpose. What is the range you are getting with this router ?

I recently (in May) opted for a wifi modem. They didn't charge me anything other than rent. No deposits for me. I am using BSNL since Sep. 2008.
