i am using bsnl bb plan of rs 750/- ul without purchasing modem from bsnl, but this month they send me bill of rs 2170/-.. How it is possible??? and there is no phone bill as it shows metered call 0... can any one tell me how?????

If your BB connection is new, possible. confirm.
Advance security deposit BB rent Rs 750/= ( No tax)
Modem deposit if on rent Rs 500/=( no Tax)
Sept BB usage Rs 750/=
modem rent Rs 50/=
Taxes 10.3 % etc. approx Rs 80/=

i have not purchase modem from bsnl.

Why take this pain, simply call accounts officer and ask him to explain your bill. Normally they will tell you how it is drafted. Even if you find out from here, the next thing you do is to call accounts officer.

Confirm the bill is for the period 17/8/2010 to 30/09/2010.
Any Telephone monthly rental charges shown ?
Usually telephone rent is for full month.
Also std security deposit can be included.
Please give here item wise details as shown in the bill.

Telephone rent is charged on prorata basis i.e. if Rs180/- per month then Rs.6/- per day from the date of installation till the end of the month.

why? why? why?

why they cheat us by saying 750/- ul.... why so excv bill came?
it shld be 780 or 790 by adding tax , but 2170???

what is bimonth rate? what is ardr installment? what is fixed charges? what is fixed monthly charges? can some1 explain??

There are two distinct and different plans from BSNL
1. BB Home UL 750
2. BB Home Combo UL 750

In case of the first plan, normal phone rentals for voice plan is applicable in addition to BB rental. In case of second plan, no additional voice plan rental is applicable and the free voice call per month is NIL. From the details provided it seems that you have chosen BB H 750 and not BB H 750 C and therefore in addition to BB rental you have been charged voice rental as per BSNL General Plan (exchange capacity between 1000 and 29999). But why they have not charged any rental for August and only charges for Sept is any body's guess.
Any new BSNL Landline connection requires a deposit of Rs.1000. Earlier, this deposit was collected at the time of application. Now this is recovered in instalments after installation. The instalments vary from place to place. In your case it seems the no. of instalment is 6 (Rs.1000/6 = Rs.166.67)
Any new BB connection also requires deposit equal to one month rental, in your case Rs.750. It seems that as per BSNL, your BB plan was activated on 21.8.2010. So they have charged Rent for 11 days for August.

So, here's the explanation of your bill

1/6th instalment of Deposit - 166.67
BB deposit - 750
Total deposit - 916.67

BB rental 21.8 to 31.8 - 266.13
BB rental 1.9 to 30.9 - 750
Voice Rental 1.9 to 30.9 - 120
Total rental - 1136.13
Service Tax @ 10% - 113.61
Cess @ 3% on Tax - 3.41
Total charge - 1253.15

Total Amount payable 916.67 + 1253.15 = 2169.82 or 2170

provided your voice call remains within 50 pulses, your expected bill for Oct would be,

2nd instalment of Deposit - 166.67

BB rental 1.10 to 31.10 - 750
Voice Rental 1.10 to 31.10 - 120
Total rental - 870
Service Tax @ 10% - 87
Cess @ 3% on Tax - 2.61
Total charge - 959.61

Total Amount payable 166.67 + 959.61 = 1126.28 or 1126

so what i have to do now? if i want to change the plan to bb home combo ul 750. then the only broadband bill will come??

Yes. If you use a combo plan, no need to pay telephone rent. To change the plan, give an application at your exchange. Some selfcare portals also support online plan changing. Not sure how much reliable it is. Better to do it manually.

Combo UL 750 is just like UL 750. Only difference is that there is no telephone rent, neither free calls. You can use as much as you can, no bandwidth limit.

show us the bill.u haven't given us the heads under which bsnl has charged you!

best broadband conenction in terms of service and reasonable money is lookout for local internet operator,

mtnl just sucks noone listens if your net is not working, you have to wait for atleast 3-4 days to get your internet back to work. 1504 customer care persons dont even know english and dont even know some basic things like pinging the gateway etc....

airtel is very very COSTLY, they have a fair usage policy on every unlimited plan which they actually dont disclose to customers after which your connection speed will be reduced drastically or if not you will be sent with a very high bill for the usage beyond their FAIR USAGE POLICY LIMIT.

reliance just sucks too they are the same as MTNL,,,,,,

local operator will provide you a good connection and is available to you throughout the day to attend complaints, they attend you within minutes of calling them and are helpful in computer related problems too moreover they are reasonably priced and can give you heavy discount on advance payments.
GO FOR THEM ONLY.......
