hello,

i want to know that if i am having the latest software for my SIEMENS modem,

i am attaching the screenshot of my modem info, please tell if i need to update...

Please mention the reason/s for trying for a Firmware Update .

ok i got it,

theres no reason, but few months ago whenever i connected to internet my router re-directed me to a webpage, where it said to upgrade my firmware,

now i doubt if it did for everyone else and if i am having the latest firmware?

You could have reached BSNL.motive web site.
Do not try any FW upgrade.

Yep. That was motive.bsnl.in. BSNL's badly set up self care portal. Though it offered a lot of features, those who tried had bad experience.

Ignore the site. It doesn't know whether you have updated firmware. Everyone gets the same page. Forget about upgrade and enjoy the evening.

I have an ugly-but-clever external DVD drive/player. Plug it into a PC, it's a drive: plug it into a TV, it's a player. Even comes with a remote control.

One day I decided to see if the firmware upgrade made it any better. Now I have an ugly, dumb paperweight. Taught me a lesson!

On the other hand, ometimes something just plain doesn't work until it gets updated.

Do it when needed: but not when not

One thing to consider, with something like a DSL modem, is, "has the technology this thing is attached to actually changed since I bought it". If the answer is no, you almost certainly do not need a firmware upgrade.

^^i am always afraid of firmware upgrades..
