When you transfer files using wireless the transfer rate is 54Mbps which is around 3000KBps to 3500KBps.
From my knowledge untile the video file in HD format there will be no problem to watching the video over LAN.
I use WiFi all the time.
On most routers, you would get about 1.5 MB/s to 2.5 MB/s
Signal sure affects the transfer rate.
I agree. I get abysmally low speed on transfer of files or viewing clips within LAN. Even a data cable >> cellphone transfer seems faster.
Some files when watched as a streaming clip from internet is steady but inbetween computers is very very slow..
Could love the settings known as well as any good LAN monitor.
The maximum I get is around 850 KB/s or in effect around 7 Mbps. Very poor compared to the advertised 54 Mbps in my Huawei Modem. I am using Channel 2. Any clues?
C'mon guys. Give a feed back. I should atleast adjust my settings. Thanks.
Not sure about the settings, but the speed is definitely slow.
I am using Quidway Wa 1003a wireless router. I have a desktop connected at the USB and a Laptop thru wireless. What could be the maximum speed in File transfers in between the DT and Laptop. Quidway has 802.11/g capability advertised at 54Mbps. But I am getting only 8 Mbps in File Transfers.
I am not having any clue. Can't some experts come here??![]()
Check data transfer speed in Network mode.
(old USB port2.0 (?) 11 Mbps)
Try the LAN ethernet port. 100Mbps compare above.
Can you give the method to follow regarding the transfer mode.
Ok problem solved.Replaced the USB cable with an ethernet cable (between desktop and Router). Now I get speeds upto 2.5MBps or 20Mbps. I wonder if it could further go up but atleast it is faster.Hence for simple Networking-- Ethernet cabling is the best option.
Click the Internet Icon and from context menu select STATUS.
Usually shown in Bytes Or bits.

Which is the OS you are using ? xp7 home / pro vista windows 7 ?
IN XP a small icon for network will appear in task bar.
When clicked a context menu will appear Status/repair etc.
The network page will open showing data transfer rate.![]()
