Any number of antennae, propagation depends on orientation/height/obstructions etc.

What is the max radius of wifi reception you need and the height involved?
If the receiving WLAN card is not sensitive enough, You may not get the advantage of
    WIFI routers with multiple antennae.
    4.
Check whether the antenna is detachable to add a dish type antenna.

In fact, home routers do quite a lot more than they did when I was buying just a couple or three years ago!

There is almost no difference when it comes to range. The older ones were having 2 antennas.
