Exclamation Slow download speeds in Windows 7

I am trying to use Windows 7 but due to low download speeds (almost half of max) i had to switch to vista. Anyone knew the reason? I am using BSNL WiFi modem type IV. Previously i used BSNL LAN modem, then entirely the connection is shown as inaccessible and disconnected! Where the problem is?

You dont mention what is your Bsnl BB plan
and what is the speed you are getiing during download a file

First check what is your Line rate shows to your Router GUI page
For good download speed the line rates should be for Download 2048Kbps or greater and Upload speed should be 256kbps or greater.

If you are getting good speed in vista and not getting half of that in windows 7 it signifies that there is problem with windows 7 drivers. windows 7 is superior to vista in many ways. so, update the drivers and try you may get the original speed. vista is resource hungry much of the system resources are eaten up by the operating system itself less are left to the user. use windows 7 and resolve the driver issues and enjoy the speed.

    1. Download any file from Microsoft and report the speed here.

    2. Confirm that speed is OK in Vista.

    3. Which mode are you using ? PPPoE or Bridge ?

    4. Mention your modem - model and make.
