    Exclamation wifi problem

hello guys! just 2 days back i purchased an itouch 4th generation and it has all wifi access, but the main problem is it says theres no wifi connected at my house.
i have a BEETEL 110BX1 i,e ADSL2+router modem, and ulimited BSNL broadband internet plan (750 INR i guess).
    is this a wifi modem?
one more doubt, i am totally NEW to this wifi, andhave very little or no knowledge about it, so
    1. if there is wifi, can my ipod access it anywhere i go?
    2. if my modem is not wifi one, what should i do? can i exchange it?
    3. is wifi free? l

PLUS: i would appreciate if u give me some info about WiFi and all.

I am not sure whether your modem is wifi capable or not. Please log in to the the modem and check whether it has " wireless " tab. Also, does is have an antenna ? If yes, it is wifi modem. You can access wifi within the range of your modem. Mine gives 2 rooms' space.

    1. To access wifi on iPod, configure it in PPPoE, enable DHCP in the modem and in the TCP/IP properties of your connection, set " Obtain IP address automatically "

    2. If your modem is not a wifi one, you can buy one from BSNL for Rs. 80 per month rent or Rs. 1,800 + tax. Since you do not have a BSNL modem, you cannot exchange it with BSNL. Alternatively, you can use your current modem with a wifi router. You can get one from open market.

    3. Wifi is free. There is nothing extra than your Rs. 750 per month rent to BSNL.

Also, if set up, anybody can access your wifi and browse using their cell, laptop or other wifi enabled device. You should encrypt it with a proper setting and give it a password.

Hope I addressed all your queries. If you have any doubt, feel free to ask.

    @sarahm
Beetel110BxI is not a WIFI router.
You need additional wifi router such as Netgear wgr614 V9
    cost around Rs 1500/=

    1. if there is wifi, can my ipod access it anywhere i go?
    NO
    (2) see above post and suggestion here.
You cannot exchange Beetel 110BXI .( not supplied by BSNL)
    3.
If you have wifi mode any number of Devices can be connectedin wifi mode within range ( say a radius of about 10 to 30 feet from location of wifi router )
    4.
    see this picture. wait....
    India Broadband Forum
Obstructions/height also will affect the range.
    5.
Whatever changes you intend to make to Beetel 110BXI later ,Please go to Management and BACKUP present working settings to say C:/My Documents/Beetel working Oct 31st
