Default Configuring Wifi and Ethernet Dialup on Airtel DNA-2011 modem

    Hi All,

Can you please point to some link which tells me how to configure Airtel Modem DNA-2011 for both ethernet and Wireless Dialup.

What i mean is that, i should be able to connect to the internet by dialing from either my desktop (connected to ethernet) or from my laptop (connected via wireless)?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Abhijit

Forgot to mention i am configuring this modem for using BSNL broadband.

Let me refine it even further:

I am NOT looking for an always ON connection.

I am looking for Dial on Demand mode. Only thing is, i should be able to dial from my desktop(Ethernet) or from my laptop (Wireless)

PS: I tried PPPoE mode now and i am able to connect to the internet from both my desktop and laptop. But it is in always ON mode. I am looking for Dial on Demand mode.

To use both systems at the same time, you need to be in PPPoE mode. If in dialer or bridge mode, you can dial one machine and connect others to this machine. You may use dialer mode in your desktop and use connectify + a wifi dongle and get connected to your laptop. In this case too, you need not dial the connection for laptop.

Why are you so specific about dialer ? You can use it in PPPoE and connect both systems simultaneously without any problem.

Default Configuring Wifi and Ethernet Dialup on Airtel DNA-2011 modem

    Dilip,

    Thanks for your reply.

However, I am particular about a "dial-on-demand" connection because this connection is used by my brother and he is into the Limited 1 GB plan.

This 1 GB is sufficient for him and so he is not willing to migrate to higher-end plans.

So its like this, the desktop is switched on all day long but its only at night that he will connect to the internet for an hour or two.

Since this is a limited 1 GB plan, I am not sure if a "always on" connection is a good idea.

Having said all this, I am pretty sure that there is a setting in which i can use a "dial-on-demand" connection from EITHER my desktop or my laptop.

I never have to use internet simultaneously from both the laptop and the desktop.

Perhaps you will find the method to use dialup mode.
    see the link below.
    1. Backup present router settings from Management menu
to say C:/My Documents wa3002-g4 always on mode.
    2.REF:
    3:
Uncheck PPP/PPPoE and select "Bridged" in WAN page.
    Apply and reboot.
    4.
1 MB means 33/34 MB per day, and every time a web site
is opened daily, advertisements/popup flash etc also
    add up to d/l quota.
    5.
Better to use Firefox browser with ADBlockPlus add on
to avoid 40% unwanted downloads. from any web site.
    6.
    Feedback.
