Unhappy Unable to disable DMZ on UT300R2U

    Hello All,

I installed WinXP recently and tried utorrent with DMZ pointing to my IP: 192.168.1.2.
Thereafter the speed increased. However, it worked for one day. Thereafter, the internet stopped working and the PC started acting cranky. Now I believe the computer is infected. I have reinstalled WinXP twice already and immediately after I install the drivers for my network card, the computer dispaly starts showing changes and then the internet stops working.

On the advanced set-up page of this modem; I select NAT> DMZ and entered my IP (192.168.1.2). Now when I go to that page, the IP is blank.
However, I believe DMZ is still enabled.

Please help as this is annoying and I would not want to install WinXP again.

I am sorry if this is posted on the wrong forum.

Looking forward to all who can help and get the computer running without issues.

PS: My PC was working perfectly until I enabled that DMZ pointing to my IP.

Probably you are on "Dialer" mode
( userID/PW entered in computer window)
    Then all ports are open.
192.168.1.2 is your local and adding it in DMZ not needed.
Your antivirus/an timalware applications should be resident programs.
    2. If you are on "Always On" PPP/PPPoE mode
( userId/PW entered in WAN page of modem )
Port forwarding options(virtual server/Port triggering) under Advanced Options
NAT may not be available with your model ( BSNL new )
    DMZ option not recommended.

( After entering IP in DMZ go to MANAGEMENT menu
and select SAVE REBOOT. Wait for two minutes.
    See links below.
    Para two:
Reinstalling XP SP3: presume you used Installation cd of MS.

Try tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide.net to maximize speed.

    Thanks for the reply.

There is no dialer. I can access internet from IE, Chrome or Firefox directly without having to dial thro any dialer.
Thou like suggested DMZ is not needed, I tried that and that helped increase the utorrent speed - speed i got after entering DMZ was 180Kbps. Prior to that it was about 36kbps max.

Under Advanced page, I see NAT under which we have DMZ. Here i entered my IP which increased the speed to levels unimaginable before.

Why does reinstalling the OS not affect the config and like mentioned before; immediately after i install the N/W card the PC stops opening exe files.

    When you reinstall OS
    modem settings are not affected.
Your Network settings have to be done again.
Also the proper driver for the LAN network card to be installed.

Ensure your system does not get infected with virus/es /malware/trojans etc.
    Para two:
(a)with DMZ option enanbled with 192.168.1.2 check speed here.
    http://mybroadbandspeed.co.uk ( server in U.K)
    (b)
    delete /disable DMZ option.
    Recheck speed again.
    confirm your conclusion.

Please let me know how do I redo the network settings or how do I disable DMZ?
Now when I go to DMZ I see no IP address listed. The page itself says to disable, remove the IP if any and save. However, even after I do that I do not think this is having any effect.
Does the reset option behind the UT300R2U modem take it back to factory settings and disable DMZ?
