Default Need help configuring Beetel110BX1 modem for BSNL Dataone

    Dear all,
After going through most posts related to Beetel110X1 modem, yet not reaching anywhere, I have decided to seek help from the learned.

I have followed the steps posted by essbee and others in related threads.
I reset the modem to factory defaults and deleted all three connections which were defaults for Airtel. The modem had worked fine for as long as I was using it with Airtel.
Am posting a couple of related screenshots of diagnostics and wan.

    VPI/VCI - 0/35
Service Category - UBR without PCR
    QoS - Unchecked
    Connection Type - PPPoE
    Encapsulation Mode - LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING
PPP Username - starts with ap
    Authentication Method - AUTO
    MTU - 1492
Enable Nat, Enable Firewall,Enable Wan Service - Checked
Service Name - pppoe_0_35_1 [typed by me]

    Save Settings and reboot modem

Am wondering if I'm using the wrong credentials because I have another connection but of a different tariff and the user id starts with "AV" whereas this one starts with "AP" followed by telephone number.
Since today is a holiday, the exchange would most probably be empty except for the security guard. I tried the Dataone helpdesk but nobody is answering the phone.

Another thing that I noticed is, would the Service Name and Interface Name have some bearing on the way the connection is resolved by the ISP?
The service name remains pppoe_0_35_1 but the interface name changes to ppp_0_0_35_1.

Edit - Forgot to add, I had taken it to the BSNL exchange yesterday to have it configured. The guy said its working fine but I couldn't verify it as I was waiting outside. I brought it home and checked to my dismay that the darned thing isn't working. It was evening by then and I couldn't go back.

VPI/ VCI is the only thing you need to change. Reset the modem and set it as 0-35.

Probably you are using USERID password wrongly.
BSNL must have set it up for "Dialer Mode" confirm.
    Copy/Paste data here. ipconfig /all
Check link 220BX . ( in my signature link/s if it appears.)

    Hi essbebe,
The modem was configured by the guys at BSNL. I had used the same credentials that were given to me by BSNL when I tried configuring the modem myself. It kept giving me the same error. Then I took it to the BSNL exchange where the modem was apparently configured and I was told that its connecting to the internet. But when I came home, I faced the same problem. I couldn't verify if it was working at the exchange. Just wondering what could possibly be wrong when everything is being followed as it is.
Would I have to add some gateway IP etc ? Just wondering....

    Here's the latest stats -

    @netizen1.
    Test authentication with ISP: FAIL
Test the assigned IP address: FAIL

You have to recheck the userID/PW entered in modem wan page.
Probably it is now "multiplay" pW password
    2.
Enter your own userID ( without @bsnl.in) PW as given to you.

    3
Follow the screen shots as given in this link.

Hi essbebe, I followed the instructions on that page. Am doing it again.
Let me post a screen shot of the same.

Or could it be that my userid and password haven't been added to the local authentication server?

Test the connection to your Internet service provider
    Test PPP server connection: PASS
    Test authentication with ISP: FAIL
Test the assigned IP address: FAIL
    Ping default gateway: FAIL
Ping primary Domain Name Server: PASS

As you can see, the Test authentication keeps failing but the PPP server connection seems ok. What according to you could possibly be the problem?
Is the password all-lowercase, all-uppercase or first letter in caps meanwhile the rest of the letters are in lowercase? Let me try it out...

You should confirm whether my presumption: , userid was different.

Well, "multiplay" did not work either. Getting the same set of errors :

    Test authentication with ISP: FAIL
Test the assigned IP address: FAIL
    Ping default gateway: FAIL

I guess I'll sort it out with the BSNL blokes tomorrow and post on the latest developments.
    Thanks for your time.

Well, "multiplay" did not work either......
Who asked you to use this ?
You were asked to check whether the USERID was "multiplay"
as entered by BSNL, when modem was tested in their exchange.
Then you had to enter your User ID(example abcd345 without @ Bsnl.in) and PW allotted to you.

userid and PW normally all lower case.

Am wondering if I'm using the wrong credentials because I have another connection but of a different tariff and the user id starts with "AV" whereas this one starts with "AP" followed by telephone number.
Are you using a Dialer ? try both AP and AV.

Telephone no 2345xxxx userId say AP.........
telephone number 2345yyyy user ID say Av......
Hope you have two ADSL splitters. and two different modems.
and two different phone junctions from BSNL>
