    Default Dataone questions

    Hi All,

    I connect to dataone using a PPPOE connection through a wireless router UT300R2U. Could you please help me resolve the following issue and answer my questions:

    Question1: I connect to dataone using auto discover dns option. Sometimes, I have noticed that the router "Status" page shows DNS Server as blank (0.0.0.0), though the Line State shows as Showtime, SNR, Line Attenuation and Data rate have values. As a result the internet does not work. What could be the possible reasons for the DNS Server coming up blank?

    Question2: How to determine if the dataone servers are down? Is there any way to determine this through the router system log?

    Question3: What is the meaning of these messages in the router system log messages:

    SNMP TRAP 2: link down
    netMakeChannDial: err=-3001 rn_p=8048d690
    Last errorlog repeat 26 Times
    MPOA Link Up
    Quick bridge not allow multi-channel
    bridge only stop
    SNMP TRAP 3: link up
    Quick bridge not allow multi-channel

    Question4: Sometimes I also get these messages in the router system log. Can you help me understand what do they mean? :

    Accept() fail
    Accept() fail
    SNMP TRAP 2: link down
    MPOA Link Down
    mpoaChannDown: ch<0> null iface

    Thanks

    using a PPPOE connection through a wireless router UT300R2U
    presume error UT300r2u is not a wireless router.
    (A)
    Select Statistics ADSL menu
    modmode (GDMT preferred uncheck ADSL2+ ) selected,
    SNR/Attn/line rate
    (B)
    Also copy/paste here. ipconfig /all

    1. Post your SNR and attenuation values.

    2. Reset the modem and reconfigure again.

    Thanks for your responses meetdilip and essbebe. I reset the router with factory settings, changed to GDMT, it still was disconnecting after some time. Then I changed the "beacon interval" under wireless to 500 from 100. This seems to have made a big difference as the connection has not disconnected since then! I dont know what is "beacon interval" or why does does it impact the connection. I am still monitoring the connection and will post again my findings.

    The answers to your questions :

    1)I have a wireless router
    2)SNR is 10.5, Line atten is 35 while data rate is 8128

    Your SNR and attenuation values are poor. Get your line checked by the line man. Ask him to remove joints and non insulated parts.

    With an SNR of about 30, you can expect a D/L speed of more than 1Mbps easily.
