Default Need a ADSL modem with wifi

    Hi,

Recently my modem provided by BSNL broke down.....so i have to buy a new one. I was thinking abouth buying Linksys WAG120N.

Is it a good choice? What is the current street price(approx.) and where in kolkata can i buy it?

If you feel the the choice is poor...any suggestion is welcome.

BSNL gives an adslmodem+4portlan+Wifi router( (also VOIP) for Rs 1800/=+taxes
or on rent Rs 80 PM
    (c)
or buy an adsl modem and an wifi router separately.

I actually called the so called big shops in Chandni Chowk.....but none of them sells Linksys modem......they cant even guarantee that they will be able to give me the product if i order that.

@essbebe : is BSNL modem of good quality.....i guess it doesn't provide support for wifi N. My laptop and cellphone both supports wifiN....so i was thinking about the Linksys one.

Check Delhi dealers here. ( other models )

If you have a mix of B, G and N devices (as most of us do), your best bet is to go with a simultaneous dual-band router like the $169 D-Link DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit. This model excels at automatically connecting devices to the appropriate band, without user intervention. There are other dual-band routers that are good choices as well, like the $119 Linksys by Cisco Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router. This model requires user to be savvy enough to know how to configure settings so that all devices (be they B, G or N) can connect to the correct 2.4-GHz or 5-GHz band.

I will try to locate a shop in Kolkata that sells that router. As already suggested,u can also use the Bsnl modem. It will cost you a lot less.

Fixed Network Terminals - Welcome to Huawei.com

As far as I know,Bsnl will give you this one.Its a Bsnl type IV.I think essbebe spoke about this one @1800.See for yourself if it will suit your needs. And plz wait for others to confirm.

BSNL provides two types of broadband modems.
Type - I: Does not have the wifi capabilities
Type - II: With wifi capabilities.

BSNL has provided me Type - II modem of ZTE make. It works absolutely fine for last one year now.
