    Default D-Link GLB-502T firmware update

I request for help for D-Link GLB-502T firmware update, files and procedure.
the modem worked for 2 or three days after getting a scond hand one Noe it is unable to connect to LAN, no packets being received.
I am unable to configure it as the Ethernet communication is not effective.
    Thanks in advance.

I couldn't locate the firmware update on the D-link website. I suggest that you contact them through E-mail at helpdesk@dlink.co.in for the firmware update link.

You may also contact them for nearest D-link service center at:

    Toll Free TAC No: 1800-233-0000*
    GSM/CDMA: +91-832-288-5700
    Mumbai -91-22-26595700
    New Delhi 91-11-26283568
    Bangalore -91-80-26783137
    Kolkatta +91-33-24669211/13
    * Free from MTNL and BSNL networks only

Refer this thread also: Any body can give me the new Firmware address of Dlink GLB-502T modem/Router

Looks like nothing is available for this model. Better to contact the D-Link support.

    Hi,

Noe it is unable to connect to LAN, no packets being received.
I am unable to configure it as the Ethernet communication is not effective.
Could you please elaborate as to why you need firmware update when your Ethernet connection is not working ??? I mean if you are unable to connect to the routers home page it might not be the problem with the Router !! Perhaps the lan card (inbuilt or otherwise ) can be the culprit or the cable !

Firmware is not for all to play especially not for those who don't have much idea bout these things and how to get the router back from dead if the update fails !!

Don't mistake me but thats the truth, playing with it takes a certain kind of knowledge which you may not have (going by the post of yours) !!

I strongly recommend that you try and establish a working connection between the comp and the router then see whats the problem,if for whatever reason you think its the modem fault due to which you are unable to connect, Please post the front panel light info (the status light in particular ) and whether all corresponding lights are glowing (like Power, Status,ADSL,Ethernet ) !

If your firmware is fine, the status light will blink periodically and if the firmware is dead or corrupt then the status light won't glow or will blink rapidly !

Also please post the current firmware details (printed on the back of the router) along with the hardware version and such.

Please do revert back with the required info and we shall try and help you to get the router up and running !

Worst case if for whatever reason you cannot find the firmware ( ONLY IF ITS 100% Necessary ) then we can flash it with a third party firmware and such !! I will assist you on that don't worry !

    Regards.

Well I don't know bout others I surely was mistaken !!

I request for help for D-Link GLB-502T firmware update, files and procedure.
The thing is, If a person knows the procedures of FW update then why would he ask for the same ?? Hence I was led to believe that he didn't know !!

the modem worked for 2 or three days after getting a scond hand one Noe it is unable to connect to LAN, no packets being received.
Further more the symptoms he has posted doesn't seem to be of the FW issue, coz no packets sent or received comment of his tells me that there is something wrong with the communication between the system and modem not necessarily a FW issue !

I have bricked and brought enough modems and routers to life to know or say, I currently Am running a Dlink DSL-500T with a opensource FW,So Am fairly familiar with the Dlink products and its working !

Anyways Am sorry if I have offended anyone, was just trying to help !!

Let him post his reply then we shall take it from there !

    Regards.

    Many thanks friends !!!.
this is an item just got from scrap market, and after few hours of struggle i configured it and it worked well for two days almost.

the pages a that open on 192.168.1.1 are not like the one shown. Perhaps the firmware was different but oibviously was meant for India.

One mistake i did, as I remember, was connecting an usb cable without loading an USB driver, that i never had.
Immediate observation was the Ethernet port was disabled.
    later i enabled it.
then on the correspondence was impossible. lan window shows no progress on received packets while trying with 192.1681.1.1
obvious indication that Etherlnet link broken

Second mistake was to trying to load a fresh firmware from .au site
May be that software is not for India.
    It never loaded.
but on the process it says theta the machines ip address is 169.254.87.1

perhaps a case worth using the modem as a set of parts after salvaging

I understand few members wrote that they had obtained firmware from d-link India support and installed, which helped reducing too much heat inside .
i suppose that one such member could pass on the info. so i put the request.
    the response has been great.

I shall wait for some who could share the files if he has them still.

however i still continue to work with my MT841

    thanks again.

PS: I am also a child. many times i do spoil things out of curiosity.
I am not well versed with firmware loading as of now.

perhaps by my white hair, LoL
i told him that i would pay as it is out of warranty.
they gave "0" bill for this time, saying, if this modem comes next time, then they would charge.
many times factories close off , they modernize, . replace batteries of their networking f periodically, etc they throw the old stuff by auction . and scrap fellows purchase for peanuts
they make good certain things and small ones they throw to Sunday market.
Finally, it can be presumed that some things would still be working or can be made workable.other wise, i felt , a set of parts for my hobby.....

    thanks

It may be that he has the firmware that works with the HW version that he has now. I seem to remember that, with D-Link, it is important to check that as well as the model number, before going for a firmware upgrade.

Congratulations on your nice, not-so-new, working Rs.60 modem

    Default GLB-502T firmware

Can u send me the firmware of GLB-502T. You can save the copy of it through update gateway option. When you do save configuration, you can save firmware on your local drive & send the file. I am facing a similar issue as faced by you. I will be highly obliged for this. Thank you....

    @Ijsa
It would help, if you give details of the present
    Firmware/software versions in your unit.

Type the details again or post screen shot as annexure.
Refer the two screen shots posted.:

Sorry. I don't know. Members having LINUX OS knowledge may have the answer.
I really never tried to find out the procedure, as
mostly FW files are available in company's web sites or in rapidshare/megaupload etc posted by users.
( Use with caution versions from other sources, other than company web sites )
There are some ,who completely upgrade/change the original firmware for some routers using DD-WRT etc.
    http://www.dd-wrt.com/

    ( "Tomato" also ! Not the one costing Rs 40 to Rs 50/=/ Kg ! ) .

perhaps there is no firmware on net. the same cant be retrieved from the modem to best of my knowledge and same is confirmed (at least for winXP).
The best appears to be go approach the D-link service centre.

if you know the procedure available some where, please provide a link.
the one described by you didn't work.

Thanks to Essbebe for the clarification.

In fact I was able to get some firmware of Australia and the same is not useful for the Indian/BSNL context.
I don't know whether the one on megaupload site would be compatible to our needs.

sorry guys for the late reply.

I have screwed up the modem. No info is available. it doesnt even ping. Although the lan led blinks on connection. I have little hope to revive this.

I plan to follow the technique earlier posted by essbebe.

or if I get a firmware update, I will run it with the "Corrupted Image Mode" option.

regarding the backing up of firmware, I think page 68 of GLB-502T manual will give u the clue.

I am not able to post the link as I dont have sufficent posts to put an external link.

sending link to essbebe & mvs sarma.

Essbebe please put the complete message if u find it suitable.
