Default BSNL TYPE II modem possible speed issues?

I have been using VOIP using BSNL for the past 2 years withot any issues. About
1 month back when I went to India, I wanted to use my laptop wireless in my house so I converted to a BSNL wireless modem. The tech guy who came gave me a 4 port type II modem. My parents are now complaining about dropped calls and bad voice now. Does anyone know if there are speed issues with BSNL Type II wireless modem ? My parents don't have a computer ,so there is no way they can verify the speed issue at their end.

Need a confirmation on the same.

    Thank You
    Suman

Which plan are you using ? I use UL 750 which is 512 Kbps unlimited. I use to make voice calls using gtalk. No issues for me till day. I think it will be the same with Skype. May be there is a line issue. Ask the line man to check the line. If possible post the SNR and attenuation values from modem menu.

I am on BSNL Dataone 299 plan which give 1 GB of download limit. I will ask my parents to get the line checked. It is not possible for me to post those values as my parents are not tech savy.

    Thanks

Change your plan to a high speed one. It will help a lot in online transactions. Choose Home 500, Home 500 Combo or Home 600 Combo. They give up to 2 Mbps speed.

    The bsnl Broad band connection:
BSNL PORT === RJ11===LINE IN ADSL SPLITTER
ADSL SPLITTER ====PHONE PORT RJ11===>>> Usual BSNL Phone
ADSL SPLITTER MODEM PORT RJ11==>>..MODEM modem==rj45==>>Vonage UNIT==RJ11==>> VOIP PHONE.
    Confirm.
    Para two:
Any test/changes in ADSLmodem can be done only with a computer. ( your laptop)
