    Unhappy Some Websites not opening

    Hello,

Some websites like tatasky.com, hotmail.com are not opening when I access the internet. After reading some posts on this forum, I have even changed by router DNS to 8.8.8.8 , however they still do not open. This is most probably a DNS issue. Anyone has noticed this recently? Any pointers on how to fix this?

    Thanks

Try Opera Turbo. Such sites opens easily with Turbo feature.

If you accessed them earlier, try a System Restore to an earlier date.
    mention modem/make/model/number.
Try tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide.net and set MTU as 1492.

If it opens on proxy, it will open on Turbo too. Give it a try.

    Lightbulb Fixed!!!!

Guys, I have finally been able to solve this riddle after a lot of R&D!!. Here are my findings:

Websites like tatasky, iciciprulife (and there were others too), did not open. I tried changing DNS on my router, flushed DNS settings on my laptop, etc. The websites still refused to open. Next I changed the MTU size on my Laptop according to thandermax's post on this forum (last post on the thread):

You need to search the above text as the editor does not allow me to insert a link from this forum

The websites opened in a Flash!!. Do look up the above post if you face this problem. MTU size 1452 worked for me

thats true... when i use open dns, then also secued sites of banks, etc doesn't open. they also have high ping values on open dns.
but when i switch to default dns of ISP, then these works like charm.

dont know whats the reason but yes this happens and it started since 2 months, earlier, none isse like this was there.

you could use googledns/opendns plus one ISp's default DNS.
Additional dns entries in next page of Network settings tcp/ip/properties page.
    Usually MTU change is suggested.
This is new information from you.

Domain Name System) A system for converting host names and domain names into IP addresses on the Internet or on local networks that use the TCP/IP protocol. For example, when a Web site address is given to the DNS either by typing a URL in a browser or behind the scenes from one application to another, DNS servers return the IP address of the server associated with that name.

strictly, the last step in your diagram has nothing to do with DNS, which only delivers the IP. However, if not in theory, then, at least, in practice, Opendns (etc?) is changing that to have a much larger role in our connection to the net.

My opinion is open to revision as time goes by, but thus far, I prefer my internet raw, with a local caching server.

This is not my diagram.Posted by a professional and given here after google search.
You can make a perfect diagram HOW dns WORKS and post it here.
Discussion : whether some websites will open automaticaally if ISP's recommended DNS are ONLY used.
or try changing MTU values etc.

I talking about the ownership of the diagram, merely remarking that it was in your post. The rest was contributed as part of the conversation. Nothing personal.

Any idea why chnaging MTU value would help?
