    Default placing underground cable

hey any cone help in clarifying this doubt??
i am shifting to a new house hence phone and broadband is also shifting. and apparently bsnl people are telling me that they cannot give me underground connection as my new house doesnt have that point( since earlier owner of that house didnt prefer it) and thererfore they will give me outside line connection . However my opposite house has that provision and it will take only a 5 -6 meters of cable to pull toward my house that point on wards. bsnl further says that if i want such a undergrounf connection then i have to employ laborers for digging ground and other related work.

i want to know- 1) is is true that after paying huge bills after 15 to 20 years of phone connection cant they do this work on their own

    2) is it true that once in an area after providing underground cable connections, bsnl doesnt have to bother about providing new such connections. if customer needs such connection, should they bear all the costs of laying the cable???

    please help anc clarify people

If BSNL is the only option, get the line.

It is upto the Dept, from where and how to give you a telephone connection.
    2.
As they say a pair should be available in the nearest junction box.
For instance to get parallel connection
say 1 Km away or so consumer has to pay the charges.
    3.
Are you asking to shift the present telephone ( if within same exchange to retain the number )? or a new connection?
    4.
In Chennai, overground cables were changed to underground and in my flat
they have installed a DB ( DISTRIBUTION BOX ) . From there a covered line ( in pvc TUBE 1/4") was taken and given in a room of my choice.

    5.
Any Internal wiring to different rooms/floors , the customer has to do himself ( concealed or otherwise ) . earlier as all my parallel telephone
connections were taken from Overhead joint, the same was connected at the Junction Box itself also.

    6.
AIRTEL also follows the same policy.
Reliance used Overhead cables for giving a telephone and BB connection.
In our flat we have all three providers, and a wimax BB connection.
    Para two:
    7.
If the opposite owner objects to O/H cable from
the Junction Box from his house across the road,
( or needs digging in his house area )
Dept may decide not to give the connection immediately, as
job order ( internal work)/tender ( outside contractor ) etc process have to be made to lay underground cable to your house.
( may be permission from local Municipality also involved and payment for relaying the road cut area)
Quality for Telephone line and broadband, will not be affected either way. depending on your luck it can be fault free !

If the number of connections in the house that you are joining( joined) iare more than one and if others have troubles with phone lines earlier, you can meet the higher authority like Divisional engineer of your section and give a letter to provide UG cable at BSNL's cost.
On the other hand if you are the only one having telephone in that house, and if the open wire is less than few metres, and has no joints, perhaps things should work well and you need not insist. BUT, if the road crossing is there and lots lorries etc are passing, you are likely to have troubles, you may do as indicated above stating the facts, and that you are a broaband customer too.

it all depends on situation.while BSNL has single pole and later no open wire policy, if the connections are more they would definitely agree with your proposal.
