What is your requirement ? Do you wish to change the modem or trying to get wifi ?

Are you facing any problem with the current modem ? If you just need wifi, you can buy a wifi router which can be used with your current modem.

A wifi router cum modem costs Rs. 1,800 or Rs. 80 per month rent. I am using AR 800V v 3.0.

    Also post your budget.

How old is your modem ? Try whether you can get a replacement from BSNL. At times, they do it free of charge.

The drawback of using a third party modem is that BSNL won't support you. Say if you have frequent disconnection or very low speed, they will blame in on the modem and ignore it.

A new non BSNL modem will cost you Rs. 1100 or Rs. 50 per month rent.

or get the switch replaced or shorted , from a radio /TV repair shop. may charge Rs 50 to Rs 100/=
    use an external switch.

    too much Mr Nath.
for your information, my brother had same problem.
he is not a tech guy
still he took interest and opened the modem , soldered a small wire across the switch points , thus byepassing the switch . he is happily using that modem
suppose you take to local repairer and get the same done, your modem works
daily you can always remove the power plug and still use it.
If Rs2000 is nothing for you, i suggest use them for a better cause.
purchasing a modem just for a switch fault amounts to throwing the money.
    wish you good luck
