I have 2 pcs and a dataone one connection and am using Huawei SmartAX841 modem, since i have 2 pcs i want to connect both of them for file and h/w sharing. and have 2 NIC cards installed on each of them. However, iam unable to connect both of them through the MT841 modem which BSNL claims to be a router as well. I would be glad to have a step by step procedure. Hi...I'm from Andhra....I'm given Smartax MT841(Type III) modem...one PC is connected through USB and the other through LAN(Ethernet Port 1)...when both systems are ON, I can access both the systems from each other through the network...but unable to connect to the internet on both the systems at same time...if I have to get connected from one sys, I've to disconnect on the other sys and vice versa...when I dial from one sys when the other sys is already connected, it says 'The username/password is invalid on the domain'.....wanna know how to configure my modem to serve internet to both the systems same time... P.S: the 1st sys have no LAN Card...thats y it is connected through USB urgent reply is awaited... thank U... byee | |

Rep Power: 3 | ^ I doubt if tauseefali1426 is another id for itzbunny4u . pls note that in general , we do not respond thru e-mails . you have to use direct dialing of the modem (PPPoE mode) and try if ethernet and usb connections work simultaneously . |

Rep Power: 3 | ^ the main network setting for your LAN card is to obtain IP address automatically . USB and Ethernet ports of MT841 should work at a time if connected thru PPPoE mode (i.e. no dialer to be used on computers) . |

Rep Power: 0 | let me do this step wise 1.I am sure that you would have got a lan cable and a usb connector. If you dont want usb connector get another lan cable 2.Connect the 2 computers via usb or lan cable.check to see if the two lan ports or the usb cable is in green color 3.thats it you would have connected both the computers 4.Now do the following to share the files across each computer |

Rep Power: 0 | GOTO->command prompt and type ipconfig In ipconfig you will get your local area network ip address. It will be 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.3 or something like that now go to the other computer open explorer and type //192.168.1.2 or whatever ip address you get in your command prompt if you have put password on your computer it will prompt the password BEFORE THIS YOU NEED TO SHARE THE FILES OR FOLDERS WHICH YOU WANT TO ACCESS FROM THE OTHER COMPUTER.IF YOU DO NOT SHARE YOU CANNOT ACCESS. |
