Default How to set up Lan using MT841 Huawei modem.

    hi guys.

First of all hats of to such a forum.. its a treasure of information out here..I wish i have my problem solved out by you guys out here.

I have 2 pcs and a dataone one connection and am using Huawei SmartAX841 modem, since i have 2 pcs i want to connect both of them for file and h/w sharing. and have 2 NIC cards installed on each of them.

However, iam unable to connect both of them through the MT841 modem which BSNL claims to be a router as well. I would be glad to have a step by step procedure.

Plz note ## i have already tried setting up home network using the network wizard but doesnt let me share files.. Help would be appreciated.. and THanks in advance.

    ^ I doubt if tauseefali1426 is another id for itzbunny4u .
pls note that in general , we do not respond thru e-mails .

you have to use direct dialing of the modem (PPPoE mode)
and try if ethernet and usb connections work simultaneously .

^ the main network setting for your LAN card is to obtain IP address
automatically . USB and Ethernet ports of MT841 should work at a
time if connected thru PPPoE mode (i.e. no dialer to be used on computers) .

    Default Its Very Easy

let me do this step wise

1.I am sure that you would have got a lan cable and a usb connector. If you dont want usb connector get another lan cable

2.Connect the 2 computers via usb or lan cable.check to see if the two lan ports or the usb cable is in green color

3.thats it you would have connected both the computers

4.Now do the following to share the files across each computer

    Default Cont

    GOTO->command prompt and type ipconfig
In ipconfig you will get your local area network ip address. It will be 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.3 or something like that
now go to the other computer open explorer and type
//192.168.1.2 or whatever ip address you get in your command prompt
if you have put password on your computer it will prompt the password

BEFORE THIS YOU NEED TO SHARE THE FILES OR FOLDERS WHICH YOU WANT TO ACCESS FROM THE OTHER COMPUTER.IF YOU DO NOT SHARE YOU CANNOT ACCESS.

it may be a issues with firmware of you router, i faced similar problem here and got that fixed after updating firmware. Please check your firmware version and contact manufacturer for same

I agree with Just4kix please don't make double posts and double threads as it just makes other confused :confused1: and apart from that it don't provide resolution on a single platform.
That is just like increasing work of admin and mod
