| Junior Member | Hello folks I am a customer of a cable DSL company and wanted to migrate to BSNL boradband. But I have a few questions answered before I migrate. I plan to go for the home500 plan i.e. 2.5GB (256kbps - 2mbps) p.m. with unlimited access b/w 2AM to 8AM. I am a heavy user of torrent network and will be relying on the unlimited bandwidth b/w the specified times to download most of my files (using schedulers). So basically I wanted to know if the download speeds are sufficient* b/w 2AM and 8AM. *My definition of sufficient would be anything greater than 256kbps Can anyone (with home500) confirm their UL/DL speeds at night? Cheers Vzx |

Rep Power: 12 | If you are after speed I suggest you get tata indicom 512kbps business plan unlimited which is I think 1800 something and you can download day and night |

| Junior Member | Unfortunately spending 1800 bucks on a 512 connection is not one of my options... So I am stuck with BSNL only for the time being. Just wanted to know of the avg DL speeds at night. Despite complaints about the slow installation procedure, I was surprised to find that they delivered the modem the very next day and are coming to install the line today. |

Rep Power: 12 | If you can post your experience from the first call you made to the installation and then the speeds of your internet connection in a new thread that would be great so every one can know what they can expect if they apply for a bsnl connection. |

| Junior Member | 3 days into my connection and I still am having trouble downloading files. I think either Zone Alarm security suite (firewall) or PeerGuardian are at fault. I use these software for security purposes and am not willing to part with them unless absolutely necessary. Yesterday night I tried to download a torrent with peerguardian enabled and was surprised to find that it blocked my incoming and outgoing ports... I had to add my IP & port to the white list but It didn't help. I managed to download only 5 MB yesterday night b/w 2AM and 8AM.. I don't suppose you ppl share the same experience. So I wanted to know if anyone is using Zone Alarm firewall and is facing/used to face such trouble. I will try to add a torrent download with both peerguardian and ZA firewall disabled tonight and let you know if the download speeds are better. In the meanwhile some of you guys can suggest an alternative firewall (which works) or a better torrent client. I am using utorrent at present. Azureus is out of the question because it is a resource hog. All other alternative suggestions are welcome. |

Rep Power: 4 | @ vidhyav , at present BSNL Dataone broadband is available for the persons having a BSNL phone line . Dataone broadband is provided thru the same copper wire used for BSNL phone . Phone signals and Broadband are at different frequencies and they do not conflict . |
