    Default Frequent d/c even with high SNRs

    I simply can't explain this. I use a UTStarcom WA3002G4 router. My broadband disconnects every 2-3 minutes (the ADSL link goes down, DSL LED starts blinking, and it reconnects in about 2 minutes). The line is very clear, and has great SNR values. During the short time it is connected, I get excellent speeds (>200 kbytes/s).

    DS US
    SNR Margin (dB): 35.1 27.8
    Attenuation (dB): 20.0 9.6
    Output Power (dBm): 12.3 11.0
    Attainable Rate (Kbps): 21624 1265

    I even had the entire line replaced, but to no avail. I read the router's logs, and the disconnect point is logged simply as "[critical]: ADSL Link down". Here is a sample of how bad it is. This is from my data log on data.bsnl.in:

    06-01-2011 07:27:22 PM 00:02:31

    Please throw some light on this, this is driving me mad!!

    your plan appears to be wrongly configured. the attainable rates ( 21624 1265) are terrific, i fear.
    generally we get values like 20xx and 50x
    most connections ate in "upto2Mbps"
    take a print or a pen drive copy of this and request the Div Engineer concerned for reconfiguration of the port. Things might improve.

    @3kha
    Uncheck ADSL2+ box in DSL menu page.
    Ensure bitswap is enabled.
    Under Management disable client_tr069
    Recheck Line rate.

    Thank you all for your replies, I really appreciate it. What an irony, the people who I pay a king's ransom every month don't care to listen and don't know what to do, while people I've never met offer very valuable help!

    I was using the 1350 "Upto 2Mbit/s" plan, now I shifted to the 1400 ULD "upto 4Mbit/s". Forget 4Mbit/s, I can't even ping google.com properly with this problem!

    @Sarma: You might be talking about the Line Rate, which I did not paste. My line rate is 1999 kbit/s DS and 450 kbit/s US. What I pasted, attainable line rate is a theoretical maximum that can be achieved with my SnR. If anything, this high value means that whenever it's connected, it seems to be fantastic.

    @essbebe: I did that, but didn't help :-(

    If anyone has any more suggestions, please do let me know.

    I guess I will take a printout of these two to the DE. In any case, I need to get my port reconfigured (or hopefully, changed) because the port speed (1999 kbit/s DS) is the bottleneck for my 4Mbit/s plan. Let's hope it is a dead cockroach on my current port at the exchange that is causing the problem :-)

    thanks for the info. As the speed sought is more like in your case 4Mbps plan, the line needs to be more tighter in spec.
    incidentally, at what distance are you, from the exchange serving you?
