Thread: Connected to Wifi network, but No Internet Access

Hi All,

Im trying to figure this out for couple of days, but im not able to find any solutions. I'm trying to connect my laptop to internet using DSL Router DNA-A211-I, im able to connect to the wifi network, but i stil get No Internet Access message displayed on the pop up window on the right bottom corner.

Im using Windows 7 on both the machines.Im not to able to share the connection. I ve tried several solutions on many forums but nothing seems to be the right solution for my machine..


>I dont mind sharing the connection from desktop(host).Or its OK if i can get access only to my laptop leaving desktop paralyzed.


What should i do to get my laptop connected to Internet?

Briefly(1) Connect in PPP/PPPoE Always on mode
( userId PW page ) entered in WAN settings
Enable DHCP ( In lan menu pAGE)
give a range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10

In Desktop/ Laptop Network LAN/WLAN
properties
Network settings page /wireless network settings page
Select TCP/IP
properties
Obtain IP address automatically.
DNS existing or 8.8.8.8. & 208.67.220 220.
Apply Save>
ConneRJ45 to desktop
check Interent connected

Check laptops without any cable connection/s.

a.Configure your modem in PPPoE.

b. Enable DHCP in your modem.

c. On the TCP/IP properties of your connection (wireless), set " Obtain IP address automatically ".


2. Remove encryption and check.

3. Configure static IP to both PC and check.

4. Try Connectify - Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

5. If nothing works, post the ipconfig/all for both desktop and laptop.

Good news..
I took both ur inputs, and guess wat i was able to connect to internet from my laptop via wifi. thnks..

Bad news
I was able to connect only though my laptop n my desktop was disconnected(well dats wat i wanted). Anywayz i connected back my desktop to internet, now when i try to browse the internet with my laptop..I get dat screen(attachment).Now im not able to connect with my laptop.

Are you in bridge/dialer mode ? Do you connect by clicking " Connect " in a dialer ? Or just by switching ON your modem ?

Post ipconfig/all for both machines.

Weird thing just happend. I logged into dat ISP Login thing on my laptop. n i got connected on my laptop,I was tryin to connect through 'connect' on my desktop.And i was getting error 691.But i guess i don't need to connect, im already connected on both machines

Thanks for all the help earlier..
Off-late my internet connection is getting disconnected frequently..I want to switch back to dialer mode the way i used too...

Now in dialer mode im able to connect only 1 system..
Is there any way i can share my connection in dialer mode..??

Yes, use Connectify. Or configure one machine as server and share internet through a hub.

I tried activating ICS on my PC but im stil not able to access my wifi laptop..
do i ve to chng the IP on both the machines in order to get conected??

By doin so will it affect when i go to office n connect my machine internal network??

and if i configure my machine..i'l defintly get these questions..

1. Does it mean dat the PC(server) has to be always on in order to share the connection?
2. can i make any machine as server (laptop wifi connected) n share internet frm that!??
3. If i make my laptop as server n turn it off, wil thr be any prob reconnecting frm othr machines?

Ok,i installed connectify on my PC..

Now im not able to connect when i dial..error 651..and the connectify s/w doesn't detect any wifi devices! what am i doin wrong!
Even after i exit the program, n try to connect, i stil get d same error..

But im able to connect to internet on my laptop frm the dialer..
