Thread: Dataone Access

Well this is just typical of BSNL. They provide you with world class broadband service with blazing speeds and then goof up by doing something very stupid with the data usage page on dataone.in

The site runs only in IE, so much for believer's of open source like me. Of course I did manage to run it in Firefox using the IE plugin, but even that requires IE core to be installed on your PC... Someone at BSNL needs to work on the coding of the scripts to make it compatible across all platforms. I couldn't log in on my ubuntu installation at all.

One way to make dataone access in linux is download and install Opera browser for linux. Open dataone site in Opera. The display will be "Sorry, IE is requierd".
Then go to 'Tools>Quick preferences>Edit site preferences>Network'. Then under Browser Identification, make it "Identify as Internet Explorer".
Then restart the browser. Now you will get dataone site in Opera !!!

Oh yes!!! I totally forgot about user agent switcher... This little extension is also available in Firefox and I didn't need to install opera. I totally overlooked it. Thanks for pointing that out
