    Exclamation About opendns!!!!!!!!!!

    hii all,,
i want to know about opendns. my bb plan is ul750. sometimes or more often in the evening i get a download speed of only 10-12KBps (May be due to busy network or another reason). Somebody told me to use dns settings other that the provided by the ISPlike opendns. i want to know that whether change in dns will increase my downloading speed or they will just quicker the resolving of webpages.

    Thanx,,,,,,

There won't be any considerable increase in the speed. It will surely help page loading faster.

    Download and run Google's namebench.

It takes a while to do its test, and will then tell you what is the fasted DNS for you. Do not assume that OpenDNS is going to be faster than Google, or even that either will be faster than BSNL! (although BSNL DNS can get pretty bad).

For windows, I used to use Treewalker. Turns your own machine into your DNS provider. That's the fastest (for addresses you regularly use) you can get!

A better DNS server only ensures that you 'discover' the website faster.

The speed at which the website actually loads and your browsing experience will depend directly on your broadband speed.
