Default VMC 1020-21 unable to run tracert / ping but browsing working fine.

I recently moved to Pune from Bangalore and here i obtained a BSNL broadband connection and purchased a Type-2 modem. They supplied me with a VMC 1020-21 modem.

Being an avid gamer and a member of a hardcore guild on World of Warcraft (EU)
the first thing i did soon as i got the connection was to run a tracert to the login server when i noticed that the request times out right on the second hop and so do all the consecutive hops. Also i am unable to ping anything.

However the internet seems to be working fine, with no problems whatsoever.
The modem has been configured to be an always on connection and i have configured the ip address and dns servers on my lan connection manually. I am running Windows 7 64bit edition.

My quest for finding an explanation for this has lead me nowhere and thus i decided to submit my query here.
A response would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

You might check your modem/router to see that it is allowing icmp.

Someone who knows that model will tell you where to look in the menu structure. If you find it, do post, to save them the trouble!

Hi essbebe, thanks for the reply. But you are pinging the wrong server. Since I'm at work, I cannot ping the game server right now.

The main concern for running the tracert is to submit it to the GM's for certain performance issues. The above mentioned Network Tools work fine but they do not trace the route from my computer to the server right? they trace from their server to the wow server....
Is there no way I can run the tracert from my machine?.
I dont understand what the problem with this Type 2 modem is, theres got to be some way to fix this...
