Rep Power: 4 | ^ Now BSNL is trying to give upto 2Mbps download speed for its Dataone home plans ( not to the home unlimited ) . Dataone Home 500 plan has unlimited hours 2 - 8 A.M. And we can get good downloading speeds { personally , I have no experience with downloading from Rapidshare } . On Nero's FTP site , I got about 1Mbps download speed . |

| Junior Member | As I mentioned earlier... the DL speeds are extremely great. I get 180 kBps almost everyday b/w 2AM to 8AM with FTP, HTTP and P2P (torrent) protocols. So hats off to BSNL There are many usage applications floating around and I'm sure you must have taken great pains to create another one. Congratulations to you too. Personally I only use the Fx extension because it is really handy and does not require a separate installation (i.e. exe file). For all that matters to me is that my total monthly bandwidth should not exceed the 2.5 GB quota. I dont see how daily usage details will help out. Other's may differ in opinions and we're not here to declare war - So I end by saying "keep up the good work" and support the open source community. OK now coming to rapidshare issue: I've noticed 2 things: 1). BSNL's dynamic IP's change very rapidly - so on a good note you DL one file off rapidshare and chances are that your IP will change immediately and you can DL another file instantly.... no need to wait for the download queue 2). On the other side, because the IP's change rapidly, larger downloads ( >200MB) which take 30 min or more to DL may be affected because your IP will change and rapidshare will terminate the connection. This occurs rarely, but I have noticed it happen 3-4 times with me Cheers Vzx |

Rep Power: 4 | ^ regarding rapidshare issue : BSNL's dynamic IP changes from session to session . that is once connected , the provided IP address remains untill we disconnect and reconnect . Generally BSNL users disconnect and connect again after each huge download from rapidshare and other similar sites so that they can get the downloads without restrictions . ( This process is automated ... ) |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi, Can any DataOne user help me to clear confusion regarding billing procedure? Does BSNL count one month time period for free data usage based on the installation date or in calender month? For example, if my bb is installed on 25th March then when the one month period will be completed. My free 1GB data usage will be completed on 24th April or on 31st March. If it is completed on 31st March then what is the procedure as I'm using only 10days & paying for the whole month.Customer Care couldn't answer to this question. |

Rep Power: 4 | For the installed month pro-rata basis is used for the data limits and billing . And from the next month onwards , users will get billing and data limits for the calander month ( 1st day - Last day ) . that is to say , if BSNL Broadband installed on 25th March then the free data limit for the remaining month is that of 7 days ( 7 * total data limit / 31 ) . Billing will also be for 7 days only . And from the next month usual billing for each calander month ... |

Rep Power: 0 | Thiruvallam BSNL Exchange- and its Uncivilized and unprofessional SDE Hello everyone Thought of sharing an fortunate reality of BSNL Broadband connection and poor service in Trivandrum. My Friend moved from a near by place to Trivandrum. He had a BSNL broadband connection plan where he pays around 5000/ Rupees every month. When he moved to a place, which comes under Thiruvallam BSNL Exchange in Trivandrum, he requested for a transfer of his broadband connection. He paid the entire transfer fee and he also paid for the modem rent to carry his modem with him. Since he is involved in research activities, he desperately wanted to have the Internet connection in his new home. It was informed by fax and telephone messages from him old BSNL exchange to the new exchange about his transfer and from DGM office too it was approved. When he approached Thiruvallam BSNL Exchange the SDE, she made him to walk up and down more than fifty times during the first week and denied a connection for him. He patiently waited for next week and approached her again, she started insulting him and use languages, which I cannot write here in this forum. She was rude and yelled at my friend not to go to her office again asking for Internet connection, as if he is asking for any personal favor from her. He went to higher ups to request that his transfer has been approved. When DGM himself involved in his case, and talked to that lady over phone. She connected the Internet connection in a port, which is not functional. My friend went hundred times requesting for connection to a functioning port. He went up and down more than hundred times, taking two-week leave for getting BSNL Connection, which has been already approved. The lady SDE in Thriruvallam exchange started insulting him again and she used caste based discriminative langagues, which is much barbaric and uncivilized. My friend is without Internet connection for last two months and now he gets a bill of 5000 Rupees this month, for the Internet connection he never had. Requesting anyone from this forum, who is in Trivandrum to inform BSNL Trivandrum about this Thiruvallam exchange and report about this unprofessional and uncivilized behavior of this SDE. Customers need better treatment from BSNL. Or BSNL will find its own way out from people very soon. Narayanan |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi All, Nice seeing all of your post and which really promted me to join in this group. I am yet to apply for a connection. I am now using SIFY Broadband and moving to a place where I cannot continue the same. which is basiccaly compelling me to move towards BSNL. I normally use more than one PC in home where, I make internet connection available to all of them making one system as proxy server. Now my question is whether can I use BSNL Broadband for more than one system with their home plans in the same way. Please share ur views with any other solution. Thanks. |

Rep Power: 3 | I just got a dataone connection Home 500 plan. First day i had a problem in connecting. The user name in my UT STARCOM300R2U had been changed to multiplay and i could not browse any website even thought my modem was on. Then i created a dial up connection and selected broadband. I gave my dataone user id and password and clicked dial and it got connected immediately (i guess this is what is called as bridge mode)?. When i connected this way, i could browse and i could download 420MB on UTorrent in one hour. Since i am a newbie, please do guide me on the optimum configuration for my modem and for UTorrent. I plan to download a lot during the 2-8 free time. I checked the many help-posts but i could not understand them. Please do help me guys. I will be very grateful |

Rep Power: 3 | hii guyz i was lukin forward 2 some kinda forum like dis since ages i had a lot 2 say abt da crazy **** called "bsnl broadband aka dataone" but just didnt find a place to do tat .. at last ma search is over !! i hv been using bsnl broadband ever since it was launched .. i suppoz 2 yrs i had a few questions in ma mind b4 goin 4 dataone coz i alwayz knew tat bsnl is a pain in da ass ... but still i did it just 2 find tat i waz wrong i wud like 2 share a few things wid u .. 1. Firstly i hv seen tat loadz of ppl r complainin abt da inefficiency of bsnl to record there data usage [ nite unlimited ] just assume tat u "CONNECTED" ur net at 1.45am n "DISCONNECTED" at 2.15 am .. nd downloaded arnd 4gbs than dese dumb asses will charge u around 315 mb .. and there calculation goes like this 390 min - 4096 mb so 30 min [1.45am to 2.00am and 8.00-8.15am] - 315mb tats wat i hv experienced so nxt time u plan 4 massive downloads, than better adjust ur watch acc to bsnl 2. U all must b knowing tat neone who knows ur username password can log on using ur acc irrespective of the fact tat his landline no. is diff or in short ur accounts are nt constrained to ur landlines i had a strange problem 2 weeks ago i had d/l around 40gbs till 14th aug[HOME 500 user] .. wen i connected to net in the afternoon .. it showed an error saying username password invalid .. and wen i logged on to dataone site using my frenz account .. my username password were absolutely correct .. i was surprised to see tat .. it took 15 days 4 those bsnl guys to amend my problem .. and when i asked them the reason for this, they said "Sir u were a huge downloader so we tried to constrain ur connection to only your landline" .. it surely helped .. and due to bsnl`s network fallacies even i could not connect to internet.. huh at last they unchecked the constraint and than i was able to access my internet again 3.I was using huawei MT880 till now .. just switched over to Dlink GLB 502 today as the huawei modem`s some IC short circuited .. nd thus it was rendered unreparable i m definitely happier wid dlink .. better features .. better security nd ething just perfect .. m luvin it !! 4.I am a huge movie buff n thus at least d/l 5 movies a day i use ares and bitcomet .. nd get a d/l speed of around 200-220kBps if somebody gets a better speed plz get back to me n temme how ??? i hv even increased my half open TCP connections to 500 tats all for today .. plz let me know if u find da abv info useful |
