Thread: urgent help needed with 500c plan

Hello all. I'm new to this forum. Recently i got a broadband land line connection from bsnl, plan 500c. But to my disgust, bsnl has caused me to get stuck in a problem. From this forum, i have come to know that we need to reboot the modem just before 2.00 am and before 8.00 am...and so on. Bcoz this time i am typing on my mobile, i can't mention the details. So, in short i m mentioning my problem below. You please tell me the anwser: i kept my wi fi teracom modem on yerterday night and shceduled my laptop to download big files using a download manager called ida.I HAD turned my modem on before 2.00 am. My laptop turned down in the morning at 7.30. Will i be charged for it or not ?
Information: i can't access internet from laptop just by switching on the modem. I have to dial a user name and password always. When i kept the modem on, i did not dial the username and password, download manager has this facility.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

There are reports that in some circles, BSNL is automatically disconnecting and reconnecting at the prescribed times. Check in your usage portal how it has happened to you. Normally, if your download slot doesn't fall in 2 -8 slot, you will be charged. Check the portal, if still in doubt, post the screen shot after blackening personal details.

Check your usage in BSNL Portal
( with 14digit portal ID PW password : get it from Exchange)
or if your location is listed in selfcare websites. register with an USERID of your choice. PW will be sent by email to you.

[If new connection, ask A.O for consumer number]
Usually in main usage portal the meter shows data usage for block 02AM to 08 AM correctly.
You can use application NetworX to check d/l locally.

My scheduler dialed the conxn at 2.10 am but of course the modem was on before 2. Could i stil be charged?

only by checking in usage/selfcare portals, can confirm.

Nothing to worry. Just make sure the start and end time falls in 2 - 8 slot.

I don't want to cofuse u. Actually, my point of confusion is that my modem was on even before 2 am(say from 11 pm)-but i left the connection in an undialed state. Later, scheduler itself dialed the conxn at 2.10 am. My doubt here is about the modem being on even before 2 although the conxn was not active. Hope I have clarified myself. Thank you all.

Try to check in the OFFICIAL ( BSNL Portal) usage web site, how your usage is recorded.

Not listed in selfcare ndc website.
SEE in my portal the time is split correctly.
I am on Home 750 U/L.

Besides, am i allowed on 50% of my day usage for first month(posted by essebebe)? WHY? Also, free usage for 500c is 1.5 GB & NOT 2.5 GB, at least at my place.

Calculate at 30 MB per day from date of activating Broadband connection this month. ( actual date not mentioned in post )

1. We already had a landline connection
2. Line man brought the modem home at 29th december, 2010. However, he said bill could be possibly from 1st or 2nd january.
So, what do u think essbebe, please reply. Thanx 4 concern.

I think you should get portal ID and PW from CC Broadband section

make a trip to your Telephone Exchange .

Wait till Feb 2011 to get the Teelphone bill, and check
how your BB usage is calculated. for JAN 2011.

But u didnt tell me anything about that '50% free day usage' thing. Activation date is posted above.
