This is sathya from chennai. Last before week i registered for BSNL 750combo plan. Got the landline last week ,waiting for username . I paid 150 as extra charges, even when there is no installation charges, they ask for amount.
Whether the plan is ok? I am not going to use landline, i am also getting the type 1 modem for rs.1100?
What are the things that i need to note when they come for installing broadband?
I got the Caller id BSNL landline whether it is ok?
Model:SRV-CLPSPK-11, i have to put batteries for that?
Which is the best model, whether i can get that exchanging this?

There is no installation charges you need to pay while taking connections. I meant there is nothing you need to pay as cash. All installations charges come in the first bill.

UL 750 Combo is suitable if you do not want to use land line for calls and would like to have peace of mind instead of very high speeds. If you are into heavy downloading, check home 500, home 500 combo or Home combo 600 which gives up to 2 Mbps and has night unlimited.

You can be future proof and get a wifi modem for Rs. 80 per month rent or Rs. 1,800 for outright purchase. You may need it if you intend to buy a laptop or a wifi enabled mobile. The type one modem also comes at Rs. 50 per month rent.

Make sure that you get your portal ID, user name and password at the time of your connection. Also check which self care portal will be useful for you to check details.

Better to check whether any user manual Installation Cd is provided in the Box. Insist, and get them..

This caller id phone is manufactured by SRV telecom.
I paid 150(tips you can take) as they usually demand in my area. There is no receipt for this.
I am now using MTS Mblaze, whether bsnl broadband will be faster than this,i get the speed of around 400kbps(changes frequently).
Hope i will get BSNL this week.
How much time it takes for broadband connection after new landline ?

You will get 500 + Kbps in UL 750 combo (depending on your line condition). Expect a week's delay before you get the connection. Make regular follow up calls for faster result.

Go to Broadband section Direct and tell your telephone number.
They will verify & give a print out and give you the userID/PW ,
and 14digit Portal usageID and PW as password. You may collect the modem adapter/cable/adsl splitter etc preset for connection at home.

If interested ask for another(BSNL) ID/PW for webmail

Mostly users having a single desktop select Buy/rent Rs 1100 modem.
If you have a laptop with built in wlan card ( or external card)
buy /rent Rs 1800/=unit.

Nanganallur colony is about 60 years old.
BSNL could have laid the cables during past 40 or 50 years.
and replaced some them recently.
Being a residential colony, no need to replace the telephone cables.In South Chennai all Overhead cables were replaced and Underground cables laid.
No idea whether Optic Fiber cables used .

Only New ISp's like AIRTEL/TataIndicom who have started Phone services recently are using new cables and or OFC.

With cellphone usage ( 60 crores All India ) and wifi based
Internet, smart phones etc ,
landline line based telephones/ internet services likely to loose charm.

You have to get a 14 digit usage portalID and PW password
from Broadband section of your exchange.

Disable box wireless in modem menu page.

where is modem menu?, i am not able to login with bsnl username and password in bsnl website i.e mail.bsnl.in. But i am able to login in portal with username and password.
How to login in mail website?

Presume you use data.bsnl.in, you need username@bsnl.in and password as password to log in to mail.bsnl.in.

To log into the modem menu,

1. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser.

2. ID and password is admin.

3. Check the LHS menu on the landing page.
