Unhappy Home ULD 900 And torrent downloads

HI i changed recently to the home 900 uld plan

1)i get around 2.5 Mbps and not the 4Mbps given
is is because uld means it alllows speed whwnever feasible?

2)also using TCPoptimizer is good for optimum broadband connection?

3)i have 3rd party firewall on so do i have to turn on the router firewall also?

4)finally i cant upload in utorrent is it because i dont have a static ip? i tried to reduce range of 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254 (ip from which bsnl assigns)

the setup guide shows neither nat pmp or upnp is enabled if i do so i get yellow tic mark with asterix port is not open u can still download (check scrnshot )

i tried to manually 4wrd port with instructions from portforward.com created nat virtual server still cant

do i have to enable upnp under lan tab of my router(to 4wrd port) even after doing it rendered no result please reply...or give a link to other solved threads searched a lot didnt get solution

Switching to Home 900 was a pretty bad idea. Home 500 (/home1000, doesn't exist anymore) is the only good plan from bsnl.

This is especially true if you ever want to download stuff using torrents.

Typically 1 movie ends up using 1-2GB of bandwidth. I'm sure you would want to download more than 4 a month; right ?

And on top of that you have to allow for the occasional youtube or web browsing which would be at least 1GB a month (40mb per day lol).

    FUP plans are universally terrible.

    Anyway back to your questions:
    1) Your line probably doesn't support 4MBps yet. Check with your exchange and call the bsnl support line - this will probably take a few months to fix, if at all.

    2) TCP optimizer is a garbage utility. Not sure why people even recommend it.
You can probably mess around with it but the gains from the tweaks are mostly a joke.

    3) 3rd party firewalls are typically a) a resource hog b) pointless. And yes they do interfere with almost everything that wants to connect with the internet. Add apps to it's exception list (say, utorrent) or just uninstall the firewall. Windows firewall is more than enough.

    4) "finally i cant upload in utorrent."
why is this even a problem ? just be a leecher like everyone else

You shouldn't need any special setup with utorrent; it should work straight out of the box.

Call exchange and ask them to remove the cap on your connection. Many users got 4 Mbps after removing speed cap.

Always use a 3rd party firewall. Windows Firewall is for basic users. Use one like Zonealarm. It learns automatically according to your selection. I am on PPPoE and still using Zonealarm free firewall. Comodo is also a good choice.

Static IP has nothing to do with the upload speed. Disable your antivirus/firewall and check. Try Bridge mode and check. In Bridge mode, no need for port forwarding.

Try port forwarding guide for Nokia Siemens C 2110. Both have similar GUI.

thanks for the advice.but 2 points; first how do you get that screen -menu items: second if i use your suggestion will it permanently change the modem configuration and is it allowed. will it create problems with the service provide BSNL and is it reversible.

To log in to the modem,

    1. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser.

    2. ID and password is admin.

In the landing page, you will find in LHS menu as shown in screen shot given above. Port forwarding is completely reversible. You can simply change the settings back to previous one or reset the modem and reconfigure it.
