    Default Yahoo/other messenger idle mode data transfer count?

    Does being logged in to Yahoo/other messengers in idle mode for a long time entail too much data transfer as upload and download?

    No, if they are idle, data consumption will be negligible. You can always use a bandwidth meter and check if there is any consumption of bandwidth when the programs are idle. Try one from Networx or Shaplus.
